August 20, 2019, ten days before my birthday, I was still thinking about how I would celebrate.
But when my mother picked up my father's biopsy report that afternoon, everything collapsed.
Poorly differentiated Stomach Cancer; the cancerous area required an immediate gastrectomy.
My mother sobbed uncontrollably, and I felt as if I had fallen into a bottomless abyss.
So, my mother and I kept it from my father, telling him it was just a severe Stomach Ulcer that required surgery to remove part of his stomach.
Fortunately, we had family members working in the hospital, and my parents had classmates there as well. After discussing it, we decided that since the surgery needed to be done as soon as possible, we wouldn't travel elsewhere, and he went under the knife on the 22nd.
At the time, pre-operative examinations showed no metastasis of the Cancer Cells, and we were full of hope that after the stomach was removed, perhaps only chemotherapy for prevention would be needed.
However, after the surgery, the doctor said they observed signs of metastasis, though specific details would require a biopsy.
And then... Cancer Cells were found in the lymph nodes on the lesser curvature, two in total.
After the surgery was successful, my father was so weak that even touching the railing at the foot of the bed caused him pain.
At the same time, I realized that this family now needed me to hold it together.
Let me talk about my writing journey.
My first book was banned because, at the time, some of my sentences were identical to the content of other Fan Fiction books.
But I had written those dialogues based on the lines from the manga, yet the editor said it wasn't allowed because the content overlapped with someone else's.
Back then, my father wasn't sick yet, and I had no pressure, so I thought, if it's banned, so be it; I just revised the content and re-uploaded it as a new book.
I was very careful not to have any overlap with other Fan Fiction.
Then, I started posting old chapters while writing new content, thinking I would do a massive update for everyone after my birthday.
But my father's illness arrived so suddenly.
When I realized I needed to earn money for my father's chemotherapy, I began to view writing as a job I had to attend to every day, rather than just a dream.
So, I took care of my father during the day, let my mother take over at night, and went home to type, writing all the way to 400 chapters.
However, today, August 30th, on my birthday, while I was still working hard on my writing, the book was banned again.
Then the editor told me the reason was that I had copied and pasted from my old book, which meant there was no saving it.
In that instant, I completely broke down; the source of income I had written so much for, waiting to finish this busy period so I could release massive updates and earn money, was just gone.
I wanted to cry, but I couldn't, and I didn't have the energy or time to do so.
Because I need to earn money.
Fortunately, before writing the Detective Conan piece, I had originally wanted to write about One Piece, and the Detective Conan book was just a spur-of-the-moment project that I ended up sticking with.
So, on the night the book was banned, I uploaded this one.
I also want to say sorry to the readers who subscribed to my two books; I asked the editor if I could post without signing a contract, but the answer was no.
So, I am truly sorry for making you waste your money without letting you see the end of the story.
But I'm sorry, I have to keep moving forward, even though I haven't made any preparations at all.
I accept any complaints you may have, but if this book can pique your interest, please continue to support me.
Thank you.
----August 30, 2019, wishing myself a happy birthday.
Do you know? I typed these four words while crying. I am truly not happy; the malice of this world has left me broken and desperate.
If you think this book is good, please remember to add it to your bookshelf so you don't lose it next time.
