Background / History

Transmigration and royal birth

Leige was originally Ye Bainian, a 25-year-old Dragon Ball fan who died after being struck by a car. He awoke as King Vegeta's eldest son with his memories intact and received the AI system Xiao Bai as his guide. 1

King Vegeta identified Leige's birth power as proof of the Legendary Super Saiyan legend and ordered the information concealed from King Cold and Frieza. When Frieza arrived on Planet Vegeta, Dr. Kari fitted Leige with a power-suppressing headband; Leige already knew how to control his Ki and cooperated with the deception. 2 3

Frieza adopted Leige as his foster son and took him to Frieza Planet No. 2, publicly promising to cultivate him into a leading warrior. In private, Frieza told King Cold that he intended to use Leige as a weapon and kill him if he became uncontrollable. 4

Early campaigns

Leige's first assignment was the extermination of Planet Hel's rebellion alongside Zarbon. He killed King Helda with Bombardment, then helped eradicate the remaining Heliorians and destroy their world. 5 6

During a leave on Planet Vegeta, he met his younger brother Vegeta for the first time. Their rivalry escalated into repeated fights; Leige intentionally allowed Vegeta to injure him nearly to death in order to exploit Saiyan recovery growth. Nappa secretly carried him to the medical bay and earned Leige's loyalty. 8 9

After Zarbon was killed during an attack by Hersi's hired space pirates, Leige concealed his true strength, eliminated Savik and Dige, and seized the pirates' wealth. 10 12 20

Ice Flame War

Stranded on Ice Flame Planet, Leige was detained by the Ice Clan and met the prisoner Xue Li. He offered to place Xue Li on the Ice Throne in exchange for access to the clan's scientists and technology. 13

Leige helped Xue Li overthrow Ice King Xue An, received a ducal token, and later became Grand General during the Ice Clan's war with the Flame Clan. He led the capture of Border City, recommended bypassing Red Flame City for a direct strike, and helped force the Flame Clan into surrender. 14 16 17

Frieza Force command and concealment

Frieza appointed Leige commander of the 1st Regiment of the Fourth Legion after he ambushed and killed Shaviza on Kara Planet. Frieza nevertheless grew suspicious that Leige had hidden power, assigning Tagoma, Shisami, and later Lyle to monitor him. 19 20 30

Leige trained with the gravity device, Ginyu, Xiao Bai, Perfect Cell, and Super Perfect Cell while concealing his Legendary Super Saiyan transformation from Frieza Force scanners. 20 23 24 31 33

When Zoro nearly killed him, Leige recovered with a Senzu Bean, achieved Legendary Super Saiyan 1, and killed Zoro. He later used the same form to defeat Apocart during the war against the Cooler Force. 21 22 28

Rebellion against Frieza

After Frieza and King Cold's conflict escalated, Leige returned to Planet Vegeta and joined King Vegeta's planned rebellion. He recruited Bardock and rallied the Saiyans behind the royal family. 41

Leige intervened against King Cold, destroyed him, and revealed himself as a Super Saiyan before Frieza. At Planet Cold 6, he used Full Power Legendary Super Saiyan 1 and Flame Impact Wave to kill Frieza, declaring the end of Frieza's rule and the beginning of Saiyan rule. 44 45

Namek and the Sacred World of the Kai

Leige travelled to Namek to obtain Instant Transmission and seek potential enhancement for Bardock and Nappa. The Grand Elder enhanced his companions but refused to unlock Leige's potential, judging his young body unable to withstand it. 47

Using Porunga's wishes, Leige gained Kibito's Instant Transmission, infinite regeneration, and reinforced Namek's defenses. He then reached the Sacred World of the Kai, allied with Shin against Babidi and Majin Buu, shattered the Z Sword, and freed Old Kai. 48 49

Old Kai completed a 25-hour potential enhancement that raised Leige's Full Power Legendary Super Saiyan 1 strength to two trillion. Leige then prepared to accompany Shin, Kibito, Bardock, and Nappa to Babidi's spaceship. 50

Appearance

Leige is a young Saiyan prince who was under one meter tall when Frieza adopted him and is still described as three years old during Frieza's defeat. His ordinary hairstyle resembles Vegeta's, while his transformed appearance is described differently by separate observers. 4 8 22 45

From childhood, he conceals his actual combat power, accepts Frieza's adoption as a means of survival, and trains specifically to escape Frieza's control. He is ambitious but not eager for administrative power for its own sake; when Xiao Bai offers to make him king of twelve universes, he declines because of the burden. His stated goal is to become the universe's strongest king and secure the Saiyans' future. 2 7

Leige is merciless toward enemies, personally ordering or carrying out massacres against the Heliorians, space pirates, and Frieza.
