"Ichiro! You're here. Can he be saved?" Seeing Ichiro walk into the room, Kiyonosuke asked urgently while maintaining his healing technique.
"It's doable. Any later and I wouldn't have enough spiritual power left. Keep up your end, and we'll handle this together." With that, Ichiro walked over to the floating Kuchiki Koga and looked down at the wounds on his back.
After a moment of contemplation, he opened a bottle of spiritual power recovery potion and fed it to Kiyonosuke. He then adjusted his glasses, flexed his fingers slightly, and placed both hands directly over Kuchiki Koga's wounds. Immediately, a massive amount of green silk threads drifted from Ichiro's hands, converging toward the heart.
Kuchiki Koga's injuries were extremely severe. With Ichiro's current spiritual power, he couldn't heal everything at once. He had to prioritize the critical wounds to save his life, then spend a great deal of time on the rest or wait for the Captain to return.
Needless to say, the primary target was the heart. While the other two wounds were also lethal, they were slightly less urgent than the heart.
Under Ichiro's control, green threads thinner than hair converged toward Kuchiki Koga's heart. Upon reaching it, they wound layer by layer along the lacerations, weaving together to slowly fill the gap.
Gradually, the green threads wove together layer upon layer, patching the hole in the heart. However, this was only the first step.
The heart was different from other wounds; it wasn't just about filling a gap—the internal structure had to be verified.
This was why Kiyonosuke, despite having stronger spiritual pressure than Ichiro and also possessing Life Weaving, dared not attempt it; he couldn't handle the complexity of repairing a heart.
After stitching the area, Ichiro let out a long breath. He wiped the sweat from his forehead that had reappeared after his assistant had just cleared it away. He placed his hands over the wound again, observing with intense concentration. As his spiritual power surged, a cluster of green energy emerged from his hands and flowed into the heart.
These were still life threads, but finer than before. When a large number of them converged, they looked more like a mass than individual strands.
Once these delicate threads entered the heart, Ichiro did not immediately guide them to the spot he had just stitched. Instead, he flooded the entire heart with them. Simultaneously, a model of the damaged heart gradually formed in Ichiro's mind. He then used his knowledge to fill in the missing parts, and a complete, clear model of the heart manifested in his consciousness.
The rest became much simpler. A large amount of thread was retracted and concentrated on the stitched gap, weaving between the existing threads according to the mental model until it was fully formed.
Soon, half an hour passed. When the final thread flowed into the heart, Ichiro let out a long sigh of relief. With this, the heart repair was complete. As for the massive wounds on the back, they only required basic treatment.
Since this didn't require the same precision as the heart, it was relatively simple. Ichiro didn't even need to do it himself; he could leave it to Kiyonosuke.
Therefore, Ichiro performed a simple treatment to stop the wounds from worsening and ceased his work on the back.
Next was the front.
He flipped the floating Kuchiki Koga over. Looking at the two massive wounds on his chest, Ichiro took a deep breath.
Although the chest wounds didn't involve the heart, they were even trickier!
Because more organs were damaged here!
Fortunately, Ichiro didn't need to repair everything like he did with the heart—or rather, he didn't need to do it all right now. He could repair parts of these organs to stabilize the patient and then handle the rest later. Beyond the consumption of spiritual power and mental energy, there were other reasons for this.
Simply put, this was a long-term project.
He took a deep breath and adjusted his glasses again, suppressing the fatigue in his eyes. This is the last time. Psychological suggestion isn't a panacea. If I keep pushing, the tight string in my mind will snap completely!
Inhaling and exhaling once more, Ichiro stretched out his hands, staring intently at the wounds. The process was the same as the heart: preliminary stitching, building a mental model, and then the final treatment.
The mental model step was mandatory because the internal structure of every individual varies in detail. If you act recklessly, the patient will die just as recklessly. This was why Kiyonosuke didn't dare to act; he wasn't skilled in this aspect.
Fortunately, although the workload this time was greater than the heart, it didn't require a total repair. Once Ichiro confirmed that Kuchiki Koga wouldn't suffer long-term sequelae from the remaining injuries, his mental tension instantly vanished. He staggered back a few steps and collapsed onto the floor.
Supporting himself on the ground with his hands, he looked at Kiyonosuke with a tired smile and said, "Vice-Captain, he's out of danger. I'll leave the rest to you. I'm going to... rest."
With that, he fell backward. Fortunately, his assistant reacted in time and caught him before he hit the floor.
Kiyonosuke looked at Ichiro with admiration and said softly with a smile, "Mm, leave the rest to me. Go get some rest, Ichiro."
After instructing the assistant to help Ichiro away, Kiyonosuke looked at Kuchiki Koga's remaining wounds and chuckled to himself, "Well then, it's my turn. If I can't even save him after this, it would be too embarrassing!"
As he spoke, a brilliant green light erupted from his hands. Kuchiki Koga's remaining wounds healed at a visible rate. Of course, the internal organs remained unchanged, but that didn't hinder the treatment. Under the glow of the green light, Kuchiki Koga was gradually pulled back from the brink of death, his life force, which had been like a flickering candle, rapidly returning.
Kuchiki Koga: Resuscitation complete!
When Ichiro woke up again, three days had already passed. The fatigue he had suppressed multiple times through self-suggestion exploded the moment he collapsed, plunging him into a deep slumber.
Fortunately, at the critical moment, the Zanpakuto world pulled him into the Mental World, sharing his mental exhaustion and allowing Ichiro to withstand the mental storm more easily.
This served as a warning to Ichiro: he was no longer the mortal he once was. His capacity to endure fatigue had increased significantly, but this also meant that the fatigue suppressed by self-suggestion was far greater. As he grew stronger in the future, this would become a self-destruct bomb.
If 2 is multiplied by five, it only increases by 8, but if 10 is multiplied by five, it increases by 40.
Fortunately, nothing has happened yet; there is still time.
After waking up, Ichiro left a note in the infirmary and rushed toward his dormitory. During this entry into the Mental World, besides alleviating his mental fatigue, he had reached an agreement with the world.
The Shikai Weapon Project has been approved!!!
Based on reader feedback over the past two days, I have chosen to modify the setting. However, I won't overturn everything; I will phase out the Fullmetal Alchemist setting in the subsequent plot. The logic will remain sound. As for the title, as you can tell, the protagonist will still be an alchemist in the future. I'm giving a heads-up now: the protagonist will lose his alchemy for a period, and when he regains it, it won't be the alchemy from Fullmetal Alchemist, but a new setting I've devised based on alchemy across all works.
Regarding the plot of removing alchemy, you'll see the details as you read; I won't spoil it. I'm just giving a heads-up that this plot was always intended, but it was supposed to be foreshadowed gradually and executed in the mid-game. Now, I have to arrange it early, so the foreshadowing might be a bit thin and could feel slightly awkward. Just wanted to mention that in advance.
Finally, thanks to the big boss Monokuma for the tip. There will be another chapter later, and perhaps after reading it, you'll be able to guess how I plan to remove the alchemy. <( ̄▽ ̄)/
