Helena turned her head with a little envy, watching the Muggle children sitting on their fathers' shoulders as they ate, but she could only quietly follow behind them in line.
A young Muggle woman just behind Lovegood noticed them. She was struggling to hold on to a boy and a girl in their teens, stopping them from wriggling around, and said to Helena enviously, "Are those your younger siblings, or your nephew and niece? They're so close. Unlike my nephew and niece, who fight every day... Are you bringing them here to play by yourself too? Oh my goodness, I'm so jealous that you're so pretty and so tall... Who are you dressed as? Are you a model? Why don't the two of us just sit together?"
Helena, who had already been feeling rather down, was now being praised for being tall and treated like a parental elder, which did nothing to improve her mood. She glanced at the talkative Muggle woman with a ghostly, icy gaze, and the Muggle woman and the two children who were shoving about both felt a chill run through them, shrinking back a little in fear.
"Don't be afraid, madam. I brought them here." Lovegood tossed his hair and turned back to look at the Muggle woman in a friendly manner. "The two blondes up ahead are my daughter and my daughter's husband."
The Muggle woman realized with some surprise that this seemingly madman was actually with the three people in front. She had originally thought Xenophilius was the sort of oddball who came to amusement parks alone, so she said a little apologetically, "Uh... sorry, sir, that was presumptuous of me. But they're still in school, aren't they... That's marrying awfully young. Then this lady is your..." The Muggle woman assessed Helena's age.
