The instant those glimmers met the darkness, many of the wizards watching through the miniature magical cameras mounted on the Iron Golems were so frightened that they stumbled several steps back.

Everywhere, stark-white heads and hands were emerging from the black, murky cloud. Inferi of every shape and sex opened their sunken, sightless eyes and lunged at the Iron Golems.

In the pitch-black mist, Skeletons gaped wide and reached out with clawing hands. Some even trampled over their own companions, leaping high into the air before pouncing down headfirst. Relying on sheer numbers, these Undead Creatures grabbed legs, hugged waists, and opened their mouths to gnaw wildly... wrapping around the light golems like a swarm of locusts in a year of drought.

Fortunately, unlike wizards, these golem constructs had no true intelligence. They would not feel brimming with confidence because holy light had been attached to their bodies, and naturally, they would not feel fear when faced with such an apocalyptic scene of horror.

Even though these were only light Iron Golems, compared with the more nimble bone frames of the Undead Creatures, and with those rotting Inferi, they were still far superior in strength, weight, and individual combat ability.

The golems swung their weapons burning with holy light and harvested as many as they could. Whenever these Undead Creatures touched the holy light, it was like ice and snow meeting searing flame. Their decaying flesh seemed to have been splashed with sulfuric acid, rapidly corroding and smoking.

Though the low-level Undead Creatures likewise had little intelligence, faced with energy specifically aimed at their kind, they still instinctively wanted to flee. But this degree of avoidance was insignificant under the attack orders previously issued by those who controlled them, and with their companions surging endlessly forward behind them, most of
