In several sections of the Great Wall where the Charms overhead were less dense because of the shift change, huge numbers of Undead Creatures suddenly surged out of the thick fog. They looked as if they had timed it perfectly, waiting for this opportunity to attack. The force of the assault abruptly intensified, and they swarmed in groups toward those stretches of wall.

This patch of ground had clearly been chosen deliberately by the Undead as well. The Golems there had not been fully replenished to peak condition in time, and these constructs could not cope with the sudden increase in Undead Creatures. They were knocked down by skeletons and Inferi and buried under layer upon layer of them, while the Undead Creatures blocked by the Goddess statues on that section of wall had piled up on the ground until they had almost formed a small hill.

Because the defenses in this area had weakened, it had practically become a gathering place for Undead Creatures. Endless low-level creatures trampled over their own companions as they charged and climbed forward, and Dementors began diving down as well, spreading their evil and despair.

The Undead Creatures, who had never formed any effective organization and had always relied entirely on sheer numbers and instinct, had actually begun to learn tactics. They concentrated their superior firepower, and the Undead climbed, tore, and bit with utter disregard for sacrifice, creating several powerful points of attack.

On top of the Great Wall, when the wizards saw the assault suddenly grow fierce, they hurriedly cast Incantations to defend themselves. The wizards who had originally been about to change shifts ignored their physical and mental exhaustion and continued attacking, while the wizards taking over quickened their steps and got into position as fast as possible to defend.
