After a ripple of agitation, the field quieted again. From the name of the spell Allen meant to teach, everyone knew what he summoned would be a dark creature, and that left the young wizards afraid to speak and disturb their Ancient Magic Class professor.
"You all saw the news this morning. Things haven't exactly been peaceful lately... I imagine you may still remember some of what I said in my speech before the Ravenclaw Temple?" Allen spoke to the young wizards in the same tone he used when teaching ordinary magic. "I will first teach you some small techniques in Necromancy involving the summoning or making of Undead Creatures that will remain permanently under your control, so that, in battle or in life, you may have some reliable guards and helpers."
At Allen's words, many of the young wizards on the practice field—Muggle-borns and half-bloods influenced by the families they had grown up in—looked at the animal bones on their desks with a certain awe. In their understanding, using Necromancy to create and control a creature's bones or corpse, whether that creature was an animal or a person, was not something worthy of praise.
For now, no one dared voice the worries in their hearts in front of Allen, but the thought of touching bones from some unknown creature filled them with discomfort.
