The grounds had grown somewhat noisy after everyone learned that You-Know-Who becoming the Dark Lord had, to some extent, been connected to Dumbledore. But as Dumbledore's response fell, everything went silent again. The watching wizards could hardly believe their ears. They stood there as motionless as blocks of wood, staring blankly at Dumbledore in the middle of the grounds. They had thought Professor Harris would be driven away, but instead, the first thing they heard was that Dumbledore intended to resign and take responsibility one year later.
After that brief silence came an uproar that swept the sky. The watching wizards looked left and right, whispering to one another, unable to stop themselves from expressing their shock and disbelief with all kinds of gestures and tones.
"Albus, though after hearing Professor Harris's analysis, I do think you should bear some responsibility for He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named becoming the Dark Lord, it was more his own choice. You don't need to go so far as resigning. I hope you will give this matter more solemn consideration. The Magical World and Hogwarts still need you." Amelia Bones shook her broad chin, showing that she did not approve of Dumbledore's choice, then turned to look at Allen. "Professor Harris, you are very good at analyzing other people's behavior, and some of your views on education in our world are indeed impressive. But as I have always stressed, I do not think this is reason enough for you to teach underage young wizards such a large amount of dangerous magic in class. Regrettably, and I am sorry, I agree with Dumbledore's view..." The broad-built witch was the first to raise her hand. "As a member of the Hogwarts School Board, the Bones family believes it is time for Mr. Allen Harris to leave Hogwarts."
