At Mydei's words, Phainon made up his mind.
So his people and their honor matter more to him than the world.
"But I'm just a Holy City guard..." Phainon looked at Tine in alarm.
"Is it really right to pit me against the battle-hardened Prince of Xuan Feng...?"
Tine reassured him:
"Don't overthink it, Phainon. Follow your heart."
Encouraged by Tine, Phainon went to the other end of the scales and began wondering what he should place on them.
"Ah, this is hard."
Phainon pressed a hand to his forehead and sighed.
"That ring must carry a great deal of meaning. What could I use to weigh against it?"
He turned to Yan Huan and asked:
"Partner, I'd like to hear your instinct."
"Hm? Me?"
Yan Huan stood by the wall with his arms crossed. He answered without hesitation:
"Put yourself on it?"
"Myself?"
Phainon froze, then seemed to remember something. He pulled an Oracle card from his clothes.
"Oh, I see. Partner, did you mean this? It's true..."
"No matter how I think about it, this is all I have to rely on."
As Phainon looked at the [Savior] card, his resolve grew firmer.
"The [Savior] that came into my life that day."
"It's ironic. Even now, I can't bring myself to look this card in the eye, let alone follow its guidance."
"Just remembering the Black Tide swallowing my hometown makes my hands shake."
"I can't forget that fire, the people crying out. I was powerless. I couldn't protect anything..."
Phainon lowered his head, his thoughts in turmoil.
"Reason tells me that still isn't nearly enough."
"Aedes Elysiae was only a small village. Against all of Amphoreus, its loss was no more than an insignificant scar."
"But right now, a voice in my heart tells me... this card
