"No, this is the only entrance."
A middle-aged man wearing glasses slowly emerged from the shadows at the far end of the corridor, a kindly smile on his face.
He wore a simple dark robe. His figure looked faintly unreal, as though formed from hazy light and shadow.
"?" Yan Huan turned and studied the Celestial Ring behind the man's head.
The ring floated there, giving off a warm wooden sheen. It resembled Sunday's, but its surface was much rougher, with clearly visible grain, as though carved from ancient wood.
"Or perhaps this is Gofemwood's heart."
"You're the Dream Master?" Yan Huan raised his gun, aiming its dark muzzle straight at the middle-aged man's forehead in one swift motion.
"No... I'm merely one of his [Edicts]."
"Whatever. I just have to kill you, right?" Yan Huan arched an eyebrow, making no effort to hide the hostility in his voice.
"There's no need to be so tense." Gofemwood's kindly smile did not change, even with a gun pointed at him.
"I'm nothing more than a thought formed from a memory. Feel free to attack me and see for yourself."
Bang!!
The gunshot cracked through the silent corridor.
The bullet cut through the air and, unsurprisingly, punched a hole in Gofemwood's forehead.
But no blood flowed. Only a little dust of light drifted away.
"You understand, child. You cannot kill anyone in a dream..." Gofemwood's voice remained steady.
The wound slowly closed as the dust of light flowed back into it. In moments, his forehead was whole again, without a trace left behind.
"But he had a reason for placing me here. I serve a purpose."
"A purpose? You mean a plot?" Yan Huan curled his lip and lowered his gun.
"I hear you know everything and can do anything in dreams.
