"Krillin, great job!"
Goku praised him with a smile.
"They don't seem that strong?"
Krillin said, looking stunned.
"That's because we're too strong!"
Ziye walked over and said calmly.
The tournament soon reached a fever pitch. Ziye, Goku, Krillin, and Yamcha became its brightest stars, seeming almost impossible to defeat.
"Now for the final match in Section One! Contestant Number Three versus Contestant Number Fifteen. Please come to the ring and get ready!"
"My turn again?"
As the referee announced the match, Ziye hurried onto the ring and looked at his opponent. The other contestant wasn't human at all, but a blue-purple wolf monster standing upright!
"Kid, your tournament run ends here!"
"Enough talk!"
Boom!
The next second, the Magic Wolf began moving rapidly, leaving several afterimages around Ziye. It was hard to tell where he was.
"Kid, there's no way you can keep up with my speed. Give up!"
"Is that so?"
Ziye gave a cold laugh, then vanished from where he stood.
"Where did Ziye go?"
"He didn't vanish. He's just moving so fast that no one can follow his movements."
Goku's expression remained calm.
"Goku, can you see him?"
Krillin asked, puzzled.
"I can see a little. Honestly, he's ridiculously fast!"
Goku smiled.
But even the Magic Wolf was startled by Ziye's speed. The next moment, he froze in place!
Thud!
Ziye seized his chance and kicked him right out of the ring!
"Contestant Number Three wins!"
With the referee's announcement, Ziye secured victory in the preliminary finals and became one of the eight strongest fighters in the World Martial Arts Tournament.
Goku, Krillin, and Yamcha also won their respective divisions and qualified for the next round. The eight strongest fighters in the World Martial Arts Tournament had now been decided.
"Ahem..."
A man in a black suit and sunglasses walked in, holding a microphone. He cleared his throat, and the noisy room fell silent at once.
The man glanced around, then picked up the list in his hand and announced, "All the contestants who qualified, please gather here."
The eight qualifiers gathered together. Suddenly, a strange stench spread through the room, and everyone covered their noses.
"Ugh, it stinks!"
"What is that?"
Everyone turned around. Behind them stood a huge, filthy man in ragged clothes. A revolting stench poured off him!
"Who is that? Why does he smell so bad?" Yamcha asked, covering his nose and grimacing.
"I hear he's never taken a bath in his life. He wins matches by making his opponents pass out from his stink," an elderly man in black explained calmly.
"What a despicable trick!" Goku said disdainfully.
"Sir, would you please move farther away?"
Even the referee couldn't stand the stench, which was like a poison gas bomb, and spoke up.
Only after Wild Man moved away did the stench begin to fade. Everyone finally let out a breath.
"Now we'll draw lots to determine the matchups for the World Martial Arts Tournament. When you hear your name, please come over and gather!" the referee in black announced loudly into his microphone.
"Good. Let's call the names."
At the referee's direction, the contestants stepped forward and drew their tags. A staff member then wrote the matchups on the board beside them:
"Nam versus Jackie Chun"
"Monster Giran versus Sun Wukong"
"Wild Man versus Krillin"
"Yamcha versus Ziye"
"Ziye, I can't believe I drew you as my opponent. I'll give it everything I've got. I'll show you how much I've improved!" Yamcha said, looking excited after seeing the matchups.
"Good. I'll be waiting."
Ziye nodded and replied calmly.
"The draw is complete. Please wait here patiently for the matches to begin!"
With that, the referee headed out the door and made his way to the main ring in the open-air tournament arena.
"Everyone, please accept my apologies for the wait! I now declare the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament officially open!"
As the referee made his announcement, the entire arena erupted with cheers to welcome the tournament.
"Now, for the first match:
Contestant Krillin versus Contestant Wild Man!
Will the two contestants please get ready to enter the ring!"
At the referee's announcement, the two came out of the fighting arena and stepped onto the tournament ring. Ziye and the others followed to watch the match.
"Look, it's Krillin!"
"Go, Krillin!"
"Someone that small made it to the finals? This tournament's getting worse and worse!"
"Ugh, it stinks!"
"What's that smell?"
"I'm going to throw up!"
As Wild Man entered, the stench rolling off him nearly made everyone in the audience pass out. They covered their noses, and angry shouts filled the stands.
"Haha, I can't believe my opponent's just a little kid. I'll toss you until you're in eight pieces!"
Wild Man looked down at the short Krillin and sneered at him.
He charged forward with heavy steps. Krillin immediately leaped into the air and dodged his attack.
"You dodged that so easily?" Wild Man said in surprise.
"Now, witness my invincible breath!"
"Ha!"
Wild Man aimed straight at Krillin and let out a huge breath. The overwhelming stench made everyone's faces contort, and they began vomiting. Krillin was so repulsed by the smell that he fainted on the spot.
"I can't believe Wild Man has resorted to such a disgusting tactic! Krillin is down. Will he be able to get back up? Let's wait and see!" The referee quickly grabbed the microphone and shouted.
"Go, Krillin! Get up and take down that disgusting creep!"
"Get up, little guy!"
"Get up and beat him!"
"Come on!"
"Come on!"
The audience erupted, everyone cheering Krillin on.
"Krillin, what are you doing? Don't you remember you don't have a nose?"
At Ziye's words, Krillin's eyes lit up. He hurriedly stood up and said, "That's right! I don't have a nose!"
"Thanks, Ziye. I'm glad you reminded me!" Krillin said gratefully.
Krillin got himself back into shape, then rushed at Wild Man. The stench no longer had any effect on him.
Thud!
Without his foul breath to back him up, Wild Man was like a toothless tiger. He was no match for Krillin and went down with a single punch!
"He won! He won! Amazing!"
"Way to go, kid!"
"I knew you could do it!"
