The instant I jumped out the window, I felt as though I had pierced through a membrane.
Everything around me returned to normal.
I looked back and found the Experimental Building unchanged. Other than its pitch-black windows, there was nothing particularly unusual about it.
Looking in from outside, I could not see even a trace of white mist.
Earlier, when I stood at the window, I could clearly hear the Big Roosters fighting. Now, that sound had vanished as well.
The surroundings were silent as still water, without the slightest sound.
I had truly experienced the strangeness inside this Experimental Building.
It looked peaceful, but ghosts and monsters lurked everywhere within.
It was far more dangerous than I had imagined.
I picked up my shoes, put them on, and quickly got to my feet.
I said to Wang Cui beside me,
"Come on, let's get out of here..."
"Mm, okay!"
Wang Cui was trembling too, her eyes filled with fear of the building.
Yet there was also a faint trace of joy in them.
Then I led Wang Cui, the Female Ghost, and ran outside.
But after running barely a dozen meters, I saw firelight near the flower bed ahead, and a figure emerged from there.
When I saw someone, I wanted to hide.
But unexpectedly, the figure spoke to us from far away.
"Brother, we meet again."
His voice was calm.
But the moment I heard that voice, I froze where I stood and did not intend to hide.
Because I remembered that voice.
It belonged to the young man who had bought my chicken at the market today.
He was too far away for me to see him clearly, yet he recognized me.
Looking in his direction, I asked,
"You were the one who let the chicken loose?"
