Early the next morning, Li Si was already fully armed, standing at the entrance to the Mercenary Guild.
After questioning his heart yesterday and understanding what he truly desired, his resolve had grown even firmer. Perhaps this was his Dao Heart?
Li Si smiled self-deprecatingly, but the determination in his eyes did not waver in the slightest.
The Mercenary Guild hall was even busier in the morning. Few people still sat around chatting and drinking to pass the time. Most gathered around the commission wall, looking through the postings and discussing with their teammates which missions would be most suitable to accept.
Li Si swept his gaze around and found that Ya Er and the others had not arrived yet. Perhaps he should have gone to the villa to find them first.
But never mind. He would wait a little longer.
He might have been a little too impatient. He had indeed arrived rather early.
Finding a seat near the guild entrance, Li Si began constructing Spell Models in his mind. Recently, he had not made much progress in Arcane Research, as much of his energy had gone into training his martial skills.
Now that he had obtained the Proficiency in All Weapons specialty and had become basically proficient with every weapon during his sparring sessions with Ya Er, it was time to devote more effort to Arcane Research.
After all, arcane arts were the foundation of his strength!
Just as Li Si was pondering how to make a breakthrough in protective arcane arts, someone lightly patted him on the back.
"Li Si, what are you spacing out for? I called you several times already." Ya Er's crisp voice rang out beside his ear.
"Oh, I was thinking about something and didn't notice."
Li Si turned around and saw the four fully armed figures standing behind him.
Ya Er wore a set of dark red leather armor today. Its faint glow showed that it was a valuable enchanted piece of equipment. A black longsword rested in a scabbard on her back, making her look especially lively and adorable.
Arsen had not chosen light leather armor. Instead, he wore a full suit of white plate armor and held a silver spear that gleamed with a cold light. He looked very handsome, though also a little flamboyant.
Lunbos wore a full suit of pure black dwarven shield-guard armor. His armor looked far heavier than Arsen's, yet he appeared completely unburdened by it. He even casually carried an iron hammer nearly as tall as himself over his shoulder.
Elena, meanwhile, wore a standard ranger's outfit. Her slender figure and stunning face made the surrounding mercenaries keep turning to stare at her. Forget them—even Li Si's eyes lingered briefly on the pale strip of absolute territory between Elena's shorts and long boots.
"Come on. Let's register Li Si as a member of our adventurer team first, then go see what commissions are available."
Arsen beckoned to Li Si, and the group headed together to the guild's information registration area.
By coincidence, Li Ya was seated behind the counter again.
Seeing Ya Er's group approach, Li Ya took the initiative to speak.
"It's the members of the Ya Er Adventurer Team. Is there anything I can help you with?"
"This is Li Si, the newest member of our adventurer team. Please register his information."
The Mercenary Guild kept records of its official members. Of course, registration was optional, but commissions completed by an unregistered member could not count toward that person's mercenary points, meaning they would have no way to raise their personal mercenary rank.
"This is... Mr. Moriarty?"
Seeing the somewhat strange looks his teammates gave him, Li Si could not help coughing awkwardly before saying, "It's an alias I chose. Please register me under that name."
"Of course." Li Ya hurriedly agreed. Since he could join the Gold-level Ya Er Adventurer Team, this Mr. Moriarty was certainly no ordinary person. She had not misjudged him after all.
When the people nearby learned that the Ya Er Mercenary Group had gained a new member, they could not help gathering around Li Si curiously.
Although the name Ya Er Mercenary Group did not sound particularly imposing compared with names like Blood Wolf, Lion, or Falcon, mercenaries valued strength more than anything else. Every member of the Ya Er Adventurer Team possessed at least Silver-level strength, so they were indeed quite well-known among mercenaries.
"Would you like to change any of your other information?" Li Ya asked.
Li Si thought for a moment and said, "Register my class as mage."
Li Si had previously concealed his class so that learning martial skills would not attract attention. Now that he had obtained the warrior class specialty, there was no longer any need to hide it. Besides, it would be even stranger for a classless person to join Ya Er's adventurer team.
"Then..."
Seeing Li Ya's troubled expression, Li Si said nothing more and directly took out his Emerald Staff from his Storage Ring.
As his magic power flowed, the gemstone at the top of the staff emitted an emerald-green magical radiance.
Upon seeing this, Li Ya immediately completed the registration. She handed the card to Li Si with both hands and said, "Mr. Moriarty, your information has been registered. Please keep your mercenary identity card safe."
Li Si took the card. The surrounding mercenaries looked at this young and handsome mage, quietly discussing him among themselves.
"No wonder he can join Lady Ya Er's adventurer team. He looks so young, but he's actually a mage."
"When will our team get a mage too?"
"He's probably Silver-level. Becoming a Silver Mage at such a young age is incredible, truly incredible."
"Of course he is. Didn't you see that huge High-Grade Magic Gem on his staff? That has to be Gold-level equipment. If he isn't Silver-level, could he possibly be a Bronze Mage? If he is, I'll eat my sword on the spot."
"That's true, but could he be a Gold Mage? Lady Ya Er is already a Gold Warrior at such a young age. This handsome young man might be one too."
Listening to the mercenaries around him, the corner of Li Si's mouth twitched.
So I'm a Bronze Mage. Sorry about that.
Li Si forcibly suppressed the urge to make that onlooking mercenary demonstrate his sword-swallowing act. He followed his teammates to the commission wall and began looking for a suitable commission.
[Missing Person Commission: Mr. Smith has run away from home again (portrait attached). Bring him back, force may be used. Reward: 5 Gold Coins. Time limit: None.] [Escort Commission: Escort the Maier Caravan to the eastern Byrd Duchy. Requires a mercenary group of at least ten people. Reward: 100 Gold Coins. Time limit: One month.] [Subjugation Commission: Hiro Manor outside the city has been plagued by a group of Tusked Boars. Eliminate all Tusked Boars within the manor. Reward: 2 Gold Coins for each Tusked Boar killed. All spoils belong to the hunters. Time limit: None.]
Li Si looked over several commissions, and the feeling from his previous life returned.
He had accepted quite a few commissions like the third subjugation mission in his previous life. Such tasks were highly rewarding. A boar could be sold for around 4 Gold Coins, and killing one earned another 2 Gold Coins, making 6 Gold Coins in total. The pay was quite generous.
However, there were probably not many people who would accept this mission. Other than experienced hunters using traps to kill them, anyone wanting to deal with a Tusked Boar alone needed at least class level 10. That was already comparable to subjugating low-level monsters.
I beg you all to keep reading, dear readers.
