A Life for a Life

Zhou Cheng was in no hurry to choose a passage. Instead, he turned to examine the four enormous stone pillars in the great hall.

Zhou Cheng approached the four pillars and circled each of them once. Then he stopped before one of the pillars and placed his right hand upon it.

A multicolored radiance gradually shone from Zhou Cheng's right hand.

The multicolored light steadily spread across the stone pillar.

Then, on the surface of the once plain, featureless pillar, miraculous patterns began to emerge one after another.

Zhou Cheng watched these patterns, continuously deducing their formation in his mind. In the end, the patterns condensed in his eyes into the single character: "Life."

Afterward, Zhou Cheng went to the second stone pillar. Using the same method, the same miraculous patterns soon appeared across its surface.

In the end, the patterns condensed in his eyes into the single character: "Death."

Next came the third stone pillar.

The surface of the third stone pillar likewise revealed one miraculous pattern after another, which finally condensed into the single character: "Gan."

The fourth stone pillar ultimately condensed into the single character: "Kun."

"Life," "Death," "Gan," and "Kun" each represented one of the four spatial passages.

After pondering for a while, Zhou Cheng ultimately chose the passage marked "Gan."

In the Five Elements, Gan belonged to wood.

The Primordial Tree that bore the Primordial Spirit Fruits was also wood.

Thus, Zhou Cheng ultimately entered the Gan passage.

After a brief flight through space, Zhou Cheng passed through the passageway tunnel and arrived at an open expanse.

Blank. Empty. There was nothing at all.
