When Fang Cheng led the group to the warehouse's back door, a dozen bikers had already blocked their path with motorcycles.
Aside from the high school girl who was barely maintaining her composure, the others were already filled with panic and dread.
Even the high school girl was only calm on the surface; one of her hands was clutching the corner of Fang Cheng's shirt tightly.
It was no wonder they were so terrified. In the suburbs where government oversight was lax, various criminal gangs ran rampant, and these bikers acted without law or restraint; taking a life was an everyday occurrence for them.
A mohawked man stopped his bike, rested one foot on the ground, lit a cigarette, and asked with a grin, "Yo, kid, what are you doing hiding here in the middle of the night with a bunch of women?"
The other bikers circled Fang Cheng and his group on their motorcycles, letting out bursts of laughter and strange shrieks as they enjoyed watching them tremble.
Fang Cheng ignored the mohawk and asked Kanzaki Rin, "How much longer until the vampire arrives?"
"It'll be here any second!"
Kanzaki Rin's voice was heavy with an intensity that could not be dissolved.
The vampire was returning from the other side, and now they were trapped by a group of lawless thugs.
To make matters worse, Fang Cheng was dragging a group of dead weight along with him.
The situation had suddenly turned so dire that all the countermeasures they had previously formulated were completely useless.
Because even in the worst-case scenario Kanzaki Rin had anticipated, it had never been this bad.
"What are you going to do?"
"Whatever happens, happens."
The mohawk's question was met with blatant disregard, prompting one of his lackeys to jump out: "Hey kid, why the silent treatment? Didn't you hear what the boss said?"
Only then did Fang Cheng look up: "What do you want?"
All eyes converged on the mohawk; he was the leader of these thugs, and only he could make the decision.
The mohawk had finished his cigarette.
He flicked the butt away and ordered in a nonchalant tone, "Kill the men, keep the women for some fun."
"Ooh!!"
The thugs immediately let out a synchronized cheer for their boss's decision.
The women were nearly paralyzed with terror, and several had already burst into tears.
They had just escaped the tiger's den, and before they could even see the light, they had fallen straight into a wolf's lair.
"Wait a second!"
Fang Cheng suddenly raised his hand and said loudly, "I have something to say."
Everyone's gaze converged on him, curious to see what this kid could possibly say in such a situation.
Even Kanzaki Rin, hiding inside the car, pricked up her ears, wanting to know how Fang Cheng would resolve this dire predicament.
Under the spotlight of everyone's attention, Fang Cheng spread his hands and smiled: "Why not kill the women and keep the men to keep you company for some fun?"
The scene fell into absolute silence.
Never mind the thugs, even the people beside Fang Cheng stared at him in utter astonishment.
The lackey beside the mohawk scratched his chin: "Huh, that suggestion actually sounds pretty good..."
Before he could finish, the mohawk slapped him hard on the head: "What are you saying? Do you want me to send you to a host club to have some fun?"
The other thugs immediately roared with laughter.
The lackey was deeply embarrassed and immediately vented his anger on Fang Cheng: "Hey, are you playing us, kid?"
As he spoke, he pulled a dagger from his person and threw it at Fang Cheng with all his might.
The high school girl screamed in fright and hurriedly shielded the young boy with her hands.
Fang Cheng raised his hand to catch the spinning dagger, then took a deep breath.
He could already smell the scent of blood rapidly thickening in the air.
Fang Cheng's move did not intimidate the thugs; instead, they burst into raucous laughter once more.
"Hey, Kansai-boy, your technique is trash."
"No power at all, even a high school brat can catch it."
"That's right, you're a disgrace to our Night King Gang, you need to apologize, ha ha."
"Might as well go work at a host club."
The Kansai-boy who threw the dagger turned bright red.
Too afraid to lash out at his companions, he let out a roar, slammed the throttle, and yanked the handlebars upward.
The motorcycle let out a beast-like growl as the front wheel lifted off the ground, and the Kansai-boy surged forward, charging straight at Fang Cheng.
The women screamed, but none dared to run, only shrinking tightly behind Fang Cheng.
The high school girl tried to pull Fang Cheng away, but before she could, the Kansai-boy's motorcycle lost its balance and crashed to the ground with a loud thud.
The Kansai-boy rolled a long distance, finally coming to a stop lying on his back, a dagger now embedded deep in his heart.
The scene fell into a deathly silence once again.
The thugs looked from the corpse of the Kansai kid to Fang Cheng, who stood there with empty hands, their eyes filled with bewilderment.
None of them had seen clearly when Fang Cheng had made his move.
The mohawk-haired man was in the middle of lighting a cigarette, but his movements came to an abrupt halt.
He stared at Fang Cheng, eyes narrowing and the corners of his mouth pulling down, a ferocious expression surfacing on his face.
"Do you guys not smell the stench of blood?"
Fang Cheng fanned the air in front of his nose with his hand. "It reeks."
These words instantly infuriated the thugs, all of whom assumed Fang Cheng was provoking them.
"You bastard..."
The mohawk-haired man crushed the cigarette in his hand instantly. Just as he was about to order his underlings to swarm forward, his voice suddenly cut off.
Beside him, a gaunt, middle-aged man in a black trench coat had appeared out of nowhere.
This man had pale skin and deep-set eye sockets, his eyes a profound black that left almost no whites visible.
At first glance, he looked just like a ghost, devoid of any life.
The mohawk-haired man turned to stare at the middle-aged man beside him, feeling every hair on his body stand on end as a chill surged up from the depths of his heart.
The others naturally noticed this man who had suddenly popped up as well.
A smell of urine instantly began to permeate the air; someone behind Fang Cheng had been so frightened they lost control of their bladder.
After the middle-aged man appeared, they huddled tightly behind Fang Cheng, not daring to lift their heads, shivering like small animals.
The high school girl also pointed a trembling finger at the middle-aged man, her face pale, her mouth agape, yet she couldn't even manage to utter a single word.
"Hey! Who the hell are you, you idiot?"
"Get away from our boss!"
The thugs, thinking the mohawk-haired man was being threatened, began to clamor and shout.
The middle-aged man completely ignored the thugs' clamor, his gaze fixed solely on Fang Cheng.
Fang Cheng stared back at him just the same; in each other's eyes, there was no one else, only one another.
"Shut up, all of you!"
The mohawk-haired man suddenly let out a roar, putting a stop to the thugs' shouting.
Being the closest to the middle-aged man, he could sense, through his very biological instincts, just how terrifying this man—who looked as if he might topple over in a stiff breeze—truly was.
Living in a world rampant with monsters, it was impossible not to have some common sense.
The mohawk-haired man tried his best to keep his tone calm, but he couldn't help the tremor in his voice: "Sir, do you... need something?"
Only then did the middle-aged man slowly turn his head to look at him, revealing a gentle smile.
"Don't be afraid, it's nothing."
Before the mohawk-haired man could even heave a sigh of relief, he felt himself flying through the air, his vision spinning wildly.
As he landed on the ground, the mohawk-haired man could still see his own headless corpse sitting on the motorcycle, blood spraying from its neck.
