"Y-yes, I can!"
Wakamatsu Kazuki answered haltingly, drenched in sweat.
He was afraid that if he said no, the man in front of him would kill him on the spot.
As soon as he agreed, the pressure Fang Cheng had been exerting on him vanished.
Wakamatsu Kazuki let out a deep breath of relief, his legs gave way, and he dropped to the floor.
Tamagawa Shu hurried over to help him up. Just then, Kaneda Hideki, who had been lying unconscious on the ground, suddenly sprang up and lunged toward the Holy Grail.
"Stop him!"
Wakamatsu Kazuki cried out in alarm.
Kanzaki Rin instinctively moved to act, but Fang Cheng had already fired a steel needle with Flying Rain Needle. It flashed through the air and pierced Kaneda Hideki's chest.
Blood spurted from the wound along the needle's path, splashing onto the Holy Grail.
Kaneda Hideki's body hit the floor with a thud. His eyes were filled with bewilderment; he hadn't expected to die so easily.
A comfortable life had dulled Wakamatsu Kazuki's skills and strength, and that last blow hadn't knocked Kaneda Hideki out completely. He'd been lying on the ground, pretending to be unconscious.
He'd thought Wakamatsu Kazuki would spare his life. He hadn't expected him to plan on having the man and woman take him back.
Kaneda Hideki knew all too well that if he went back, he'd be locked up for the rest of his life. On top of that, there was nothing people hated more than a mole.
The Countermeasure Department might even arrange some special entertainment for him in prison, locking him up with a few gay guys and making sure his little daisy turned into a sunflower.
To avoid that awful fate, Kaneda Hideki had decided to take a gamble.
But he'd failed.
