With so many people watching her without restraint, Ye Yuqing felt a little restless.
Fang Cheng, on the other hand, remained perfectly calm. Whether the looks were friendly or hostile, he paid them no mind.
He was watching them, too. There were thirty-four people in all, and not one of them was ordinary.
Several had a threat level around A-, while the weakest still ranked at threat level B.
The North American United Government truly was one of the world's three major political powers. Even a branch in some random city could gather this many gifted people for a meeting.
"Hey, are you guys new?"
A short-haired girl chewing gum greeted Fang Cheng and Ye Yuqing with a grin. "I'm Erica."
Ye Yuqing glanced at her. She was pretty enough, and had a big chest, but nothing compared to her own. She didn't seem like much of a threat.
She kept up her aloof persona. Fang Cheng smiled and said, "More or less. Are you members of the Department of Homeland Security?"
His English was pretty rough, but with his Translation ability, everyday conversation was no problem.
Erica grinned. "Nope. We're just freelancers."
Fang Cheng understood. The Countermeasure Department also hired freelancers to handle private jobs.
Their abilities came from all sorts of sources; they weren't all manufactured by the government.
Fang Cheng wanted to ask more about the Department of Homeland Security, but Erica just smiled and pulled out two envelopes, handing one to him and one to Ye Yuqing. "You're both new. If there's anything you don't understand, you can take a look at these."
Fang Cheng and Ye Yuqing took the envelopes and opened them. Inside each was a lifelike drawing of a snake.
The snakes suddenly leaped out of the envelopes and lunged at their faces.
