Of course, taking it home to unclog the toilet was a joke. Fang Cheng had grown attached to the toilet plunger at home, which had been worn smooth with use, and couldn't bear to replace it.
But he really did want to claim that ugly-looking Vajra Pestle for himself. All his current means of attack were physical, so he'd be helpless against things like undead spirits.
Besides, Kanzaki Rin was an underage girl. Carrying something like that could easily lead to misunderstandings, so it was better for Fang Cheng to keep it for her and take the risk of being misunderstood himself.
The two arrived at their destination, standing before an isolated building. Fang Cheng looked up. It appeared to be about twenty stories tall, and the entire building was pitch-black.
The residents had either moved away or gone to bed early.
They went straight in through the main entrance. The security office was empty and dark, with no lights on. The guard had probably run off in advance.
They entered the building and took the elevator. The floor buttons only went up to eighteen; there were no buttons for the nineteenth or twentieth floors.
Kanzaki Rin casually pressed eighteen, then began using her tablet to control the drone outside and send it up to the top floor to check things out.
The footage sent back by the drone showed that the doors and windows on the top floor had all been boarded up. There was no way in from the outside, so they could only enter from within.
Fang Cheng looked up at the approaching eighteenth floor and suddenly asked, "Are you afraid of ghosts?"
Kanzaki Rin didn't even look up. "There's nothing to be afraid of."
Fang Cheng nodded. "Then you can go first. I'm a little scared."
