But now, that pale-violet atmosphere was being churned by the falling warship. The heat generated by the bow scraping against the atmosphere had formed an expanding ring of blazing white light on the planet's surface.
The warship was not falling particularly fast. It was simply too massive; its inertia was so great that even planetary gravity could not make it accelerate sharply. But it was falling.
Judging by its rate of descent, in a few hours, this warship over a thousand kilometers long would crash into the purple planet's atmosphere.
If its angle of descent remained unchanged, it would skim along the edge of the atmosphere, then plow a band of ruins straight across the continent.
