Can a purely merchant-run nation exist?
Sui Xiong felt that it probably could. Although this world possessed all manner of wondrous powers, dangerous Demonic Beasts, and mighty gods, the essence of mortal life was not actually that different from Earth's. Sui Xiong had not been particularly good at world history, but he at least remembered that the "capitalist revolution" was supposed to come after the "Industrial Revolution."
Damn it, this world had not even begun an Industrial Revolution yet! How could it possibly have developed to the point where it needed a war to overthrow the feudal system?!
If Marx knew, he would definitely laugh at them.
