Sui Xiong flew swiftly and soon arrived at the place where Hemsara slept.
But when he got there, he was a little puzzled.
"Is this the place? Could I have remembered wrong?"
He carefully examined the deep trench before him, almost unable to believe his own eyes.
Back then, Hemsara had clearly been sleeping on a relatively flat stretch of seafloor. How had a hen turned into a duck in the blink of an eye, with flat seabed becoming a deep trench?
Nature had always possessed uncanny craftsmanship. Even on Earth, an desolate, uninhabited reef could be transformed within a year or two into an island of poured concrete complete with an airport and docks. But no matter how uncanny that craftsmanship was, it could not turn level ground into a ravine!
And besides... this trench... seemed really rather deep...
Sui Xiong took a quick look and found that he could not even see the bottom. Only after using divine power did he detect the trench floor.
Yet that scan confirmed that he had not come to the wrong place—his old friend Hemsara was currently lying on the seafloor, motionless, like a hibernating salted fish.
Hemsara's body was now a somewhat elongated oval, pitch-black in color. To Sui Xiong, it looked exactly like a salted fish. An African-blooded salted fish, at that—its blackness was exceptionally pure, with not the slightest sign of having struck it lucky and smuggled itself into Europe.
This was an internet joke from before his transmigration. It said that lucky people had pale faces, while unlucky people had dark faces. Pale-faced naturally meant Europeans, while dark-faced naturally meant Africans. Those unlucky to an extreme were African grand shamans, old tribal chiefs from Central Africa, and the like.
As for salted fish, that came from another game.
