Baron Dar's Territory?
Sui Xiong froze for a moment before recalling the place.
It was a relatively remote territory. Sui Xiong had originally intended to use it as a testing ground, sending Kabbalah—the "European Prince" in the Church who was most skilled at summoning divine envoys—to serve as its high priest.
According to his plan, the local lord belonged to the evil faction and was bound to clash with Kabbalah, who belonged to the good faction. When that happened, Kabbalah would inevitably have to summon divine envoys for help, allowing him to verify through practice just how much assistance those envoys could provide to mid-level clerics.
Besides, he could use this opportunity to see just how far divine envoys could be employed, and perhaps try advancing them as well... In short, there were plenty of things to study and experiment with.
Yet even gods could not have everything go as they wished. Though Sui Xiong had planned things well, events unfolded differently from what he had expected. Or rather, Baron Dar's actions were the complete opposite of what he had anticipated.
According to his plan, Baron Dar would surely be unable to tolerate the Church of Void Mask helping and organizing the poor, and sooner or later would come into serious conflict with it. But after witnessing the Church of Void Mask's combat strength, Baron Dar more or less gave up on resisting by force. After all, even if the poor in his territory grew stronger and became harder to control, it would merely mean a little less money and cannon fodder for him. It simply was not worth risking the loss of troops over.
How much were poor people's lives worth? If he lost ten or so elite soldiers, they would be worth more than all the poor people
