When it came to matters concerning "war," no one was better informed than the War Pantheon. Not only people from other factions—even many mid-ranking nobles of the Gold Coin Federation's Southern Noble Faction received news more slowly than the War Pantheon did.
After all, wherever there was fighting, there was war, and wherever there was war, there were people who believed in the gods of war.
Whether regular soldiers or mercenaries, many worshipped the gods of war. The war gods promised that after fighting bravely, their souls could travel to the divine kingdom and find rest. Those of sufficient talent might even be transformed into immortal divine servants, continuing the journey they had left unfinished in life. For soldiers, this was more or less one of the finest possible destinations.
So when the Noble Faction prepared to form a rapid mobile force, the war gods learned of it at once, verified the details, and kept close track of its progress.
"They will probably form a rapid mobile force of two hundred men," Ogmanding said. "One-third of them will be mid-tier—a very startling figure."
If one-third of two hundred men were mid-tier, that meant sixty or seventy mid-tier fighters. That number truly was surprising—within an ordinary army, it would be enough to form the backbone of a force of over ten thousand men.
And when one considered the remaining low-tier fighters, as well as the spellcasters this force would require, the cost of assembling this mere two-hundred-man unit would likely surpass that of an ordinary ten-thousand-man legion.
In other words, they were forming this army in the hope that it could achieve results equal to, or even greater than, those of an ordinary legion. By the same token, if it were defeated or even annihilated, the losses inflicted upon the Noble
