The Ark Planet was now nothing but scattered debris, a far cry from the prosperous and mysterious world it had once been. Looking at the current state of the planet and the Ark People dying at the hands of the Mysterious Person, the entire world was submerged in endless grief and despair.
Inside a building that was barely still standing, a high-ranking official stared fixedly at the shattered images on the screen, his eyes filled with pain and fury, his knuckles white from the force of his grip. The other officials around him wore equally grave expressions. One of them said with a trembling voice, "Who exactly is this? Where did he come from? Why is he destroying our planet?" Their words were heavy with confusion and bewilderment, these questions acting like heavy shackles that made it hard for them to breathe.
"We must do something; we cannot just watch as our home is destroyed and our kin are slaughtered!" another official roared, his emotions running high as he clenched his fists.
"But our military has already suffered heavy losses. Facing his terrifying power, it seems we have no way to fight back," a young official said, his face full of helplessness and his voice choked with sobs.
Meanwhile, the Mysterious Person continued his destruction. Wherever he went, streets were shattered and buildings tilted precariously, as if they might collapse at any moment. He ruthlessly fired light waves at the fleeing Ark People, and for a time, the ground was filled with the wails of the dying. The Ark People fled in terror, the crowds chaotic and disorganized, with corpses strewn about; the prosperity of the past had now vanished like a bubble.
Suddenly, a figure rushed out from the crowd—it was the military commander.
Covered in smoke and dust, he gripped an energy gun tightly and shouted angrily at the Mysterious Person, "You devil, stop your atrocities!"
The Mysterious Person heard the voice and slowly turned his head, a mocking smile appearing on his face: "You? You want to stop me?"
"Even if there is only a sliver of hope, I will fight for my people's chance to survive!" The commander's eyes were resolute as he pulled the trigger without hesitation, sending an energy beam toward the Mysterious Person.
The Mysterious Person lifted his hand slightly, and the beam dissipated into nothingness the moment it touched his palm. "Overestimating yourself," he spat out coldly, before firing a light wave toward the commander.
At this critical moment, a figure rushed over at high speed, knocking the commander aside. The light wave struck the figure, who let out a miserable scream and collapsed to the ground.
"No!" the commander shouted in grief, lunging to the side of the fallen figure, only to realize it was his own adjutant.
"Commander... you must... protect everyone..." the adjutant said with a weak breath before closing his eyes.
The commander slowly stood up, flames of hatred burning in his eyes: "I will make you pay for this!" At this moment, the high-ranking officials in the command building watched this scene, their hearts a complex mix of emotions.
"We cannot let any more people sacrifice themselves; we must find his weakness," the high-ranking official said through gritted teeth.
"Activate all detection devices and scan his energy fluctuations from every angle. Even if there is only a one-in-ten-thousand chance, we must find a way to defeat him!" another official quickly issued the order.
Outside, the Mysterious Person continued his rampage. The fate of the Ark Planet hung by a thread, and everyone was praying for a miracle, hoping for a turning point to save their home and their loved ones.
Though filled with sorrow and resentment, the Ark People did not abandon their final hope. They gathered from all directions to launch their most fierce counterattack. Advanced laser weapons flashed once more, and small starships wove nimbly through the air, attempting to disrupt the Mysterious Person's rhythm. The military commander, his eyes bloodshot, roared as he directed the soldiers to change tactics, fueled by a single belief: protect their home and avenge their fallen kin.
However, facing this seemingly surging offensive, the Mysterious Person merely offered a disdainful smile, the energy fluctuations around him intensifying abruptly. As he moved his hands, even more massive light waves roared outward, their power far exceeding what had come before. The attacks of the Ark People were like candles in the wind before this power, instantly and easily neutralized. The laser beams dissipated from the sheer force of his energy before they could even get close, and the small starships were struck by the light waves, exploding in mid-air one after another into fireballs, their wreckage falling like rain.
Inside the command building, the officials watched it all, their expressions shifting from tension and anticipation to despair. The high-ranking official widened his eyes, his body trembling slightly as he muttered incessantly, "How can this be? How can this be? Why is it completely useless? We are... we are the Ark People, a highly civilized race!" His voice was filled with disbelief and a profound sense of defeat.
"Are we truly to perish like this?" one official slumped powerlessly into his chair, clutching his head in agony.
"No, we cannot give up! There must be a way!" Another, younger official, his eyes still flickering with unyielding light, operated the console frantically, trying to find a flaw in the Mysterious Person from the vast array of data.
On the battlefield outside, the Mysterious Person let out a hearty, unrestrained laugh: "Your resistance is futile! Today is the end for you Ark People!" As he spoke, he increased the intensity of his attacks, the light waves spreading like a tide, leveling everything in their path.
Watching his comrades fall one by one, the military commander was filled with grief and indignation. He knew they had no chance of winning in a direct confrontation, but he refused to accept defeat. Suddenly, a bold idea flashed through his mind; though the probability of success was minuscule, it might be their final hope.
"All soldiers, listen up! Cease frontal attacks, disperse, and draw his attention from different directions!" The commander issued the new order through the communication channel. Though the Ark soldiers were confused, they executed the command without hesitation. They scattered, launching attacks from every corner, and for a time, the sounds of gunfire and explosions echoed incessantly.
The Mysterious Person grew somewhat annoyed by this sudden change. He turned repeatedly, firing light waves in every direction, trying to wipe out these annoying Ark People who were like ants. In the moment his attention was divided, the commander piloted a specially modified small starship, charging toward the Mysterious Person like an arrow released from a bow.
He gripped an energy compression device tightly in his hand—the crystallization of Ark technology, containing immense energy that, if detonated, would be powerful enough to destroy an entire city. The commander intended to gamble with his own life to take the Mysterious Person down with him.
"For the Ark!" The commander let out a roar, his eyes flashing with determination as he charged toward the Mysterious Person... Inside the command building, the officials watched this scene, their hearts tightening. They all understood that this was a life-or-death gamble; the fate of the Ark Planet hung on this very moment.
