As soon as the words fell, Dragon Duke and Snake Granny's expressions changed instantly.
"What?!"
"His son is already dead?!"
The two elders whipped around and fixed their eyes on Tang Hao.
Tang Hao's face turned deathly pale, and a flicker of shame at having his lie exposed crossed his eyes.
Dragon Duke's voice trembled. "His Excellency Haotian, what he said... is it true?"
Tang Hao opened his mouth, but couldn't utter a single word.
In the end, he let out a cold snort.
Snake Granny's face turned green, then white, as she sized Tang Hao up. Only then did she notice that although his features were rugged, there was an indescribable trace of femininity about him.
His skin was unnaturally pale, and his every gesture carried a strange, delicate charm.
Luo Yun stood with his hands behind his back, watching the scene unfold. The smile at the corners of his mouth deepened.
"Dragon Duke and Snake Granny, I'll give you a chance." He spoke indifferently. "Leave now, and I can let bygones be bygones."
Dragon Duke's expression shifted between dark and light.
He glanced at Tang Hao, then at Luo Yun, before finally stamping his foot in anger.
"Let's go!"
Snake Granny shot Tang Hao a furious glare, then turned and followed Dragon Duke away.
Tang Hao panicked. "Dragon Duke, Snake Granny! You promised—"
"His Excellency Haotian!" Dragon Duke called without turning back, his voice filled with murderous intent. "Don't push me!"
The two figures disappeared into the darkness.
Tang Hao stood frozen in place, trembling all over.
He suddenly realized that once again, he was all alone.
Luo Yun looked at him, his gaze calm.
"Tang Hao, do you still think you can win?"
Tang Hao jerked his head up, his eyes bloodshot.
"Luo Yun, don't get cocky!"
