This was a vast and boundless world where Gods and Devils roamed the endless earth. Much like human cultivators, they lived and thrived upon this land.
It was like a paradise for Gods and Devils. Although there were conflicts and slaughter among them, it was nothing like the Great Xia World, which was entirely a realm of humans where Gods and Devils could only hide in the secret corners of the world to slumber.
In the center of the world stood five enormous mountain peaks. Each reached ten thousand miles into the sky, appearing like five pillars supporting this vast world.
Yet, these five peaks were not of equal height; they were staggered, resembling a giant hand standing upside down in the center of the world.
Whoosh!
At the very summit of these towering peaks, a phantom suddenly appeared in the high sky. The phantom swept a glance over the five peaks below before flying directly toward the second-highest one.
As for the first peak, although its master had not returned for endless years, even if there were the slightest possibility, that peak could only be inhabited by its original master.
Unless, a new successor to the master was born!
At the summit of the second peak lay a vast complex of palaces.
Inside one of the halls, a God or Devil with blood-red hair and golden armor sat cross-legged, his eyes slightly closed. A long black spear lay horizontally before him.
The golden-armored God or Devil sat quietly, yet merely by sitting there, he seemed to be the center of the entire space, impossible to ignore.
Suddenly, the golden-armored God or Devil opened his eyes.
"Hmm? Why has he come?" the golden-armored God or Devil said softly. "Could it be for that fellow Huang Niu? But since the Ancient War until now, several Gods and Devils at the Celestial God level have left, and haven't they all just sworn a Heavenly Dao oath and been teleported out? This is somewhat strange."
As he spoke, the golden-armored God or Devil stood up.
Whoosh!
Just then, a phantom appeared out of thin air within the hall. The phantom took the form of a large bear with yellow fur.
"Oh? Great Bear, you aren't cultivating in your cave dwelling; what brings you to me today? Could it be about the matter of Huang Niu?" the red-haired, golden-armored God or Devil asked with a laugh.
"Huang Niu? I did not come for that," the Yellow-Haired Great Bear shook his head. "Before the master left, he gave instructions that we all know. In these endless years, several Celestial Gods and True Immortals have left. If Huang Niu wants to go, let him go. He is, after all, a powerhouse at the Celestial God level, and he only followed under the master's banner back then; he didn't sell himself to the Star-Plucking Mansion."
"Hmm." The red-haired, golden-armored God or Devil nodded. The God King had departed, his life or death unknown, and he had not returned since the ancient times. It was perfectly normal for Gods and Devils to harbor thoughts of leaving.
"Since it is not about Celestial God Huang Niu, why have you come today..." the red-haired, golden-armored God or Devil asked curiously.
"I lost a bet with someone, and now that the time has come to fulfill my promise, I have come to seek you, Red Snow Celestial God," the Yellow-Haired Great Bear said with a hint of a smile in his eyes.
"A bet? You?" Red Snow Celestial God was stunned. A treasure spirit had lost a bet and actually sought him out?
His curiosity piqued, Red Snow Celestial God looked at the Yellow-Haired Great Bear and laughed, "Could it be... that Juhua who failed his Heavenly Tribulation? He has lived for millions of years, and his strength is quite decent even among Celestial Immortals. If he were lucky enough to win against you, it is a slight possibility."
"Juhua, it is indeed related to him. You do not know, but in the last few years, Juhua found a fourth master for the cave dwelling, named Lei Zhan," the Yellow-Haired Great Bear said.
"Lei Zhan?" Red Snow Celestial God became interested.
"This Lei Zhan's talent far exceeds Juhua's; he is truly monstrous. Just after reaching the level of Rebirth from a Drop of Blood, he managed to enter the threshold of a Great Dao with the help of the Star Hall, and he also reached the Domain Realm of the Dao in a minor Dao. Most importantly, when he became the fourth master, he was only four years old!"
"Entered the threshold of a Great Dao? Domain Realm of the Dao? Four years old? Which Great Dao did he enter?" Red Snow Celestial God seemed to have guessed something and asked quickly, "I have heard of that Juhua taking on an apprentice; it has been five or six years now. That means... he is exactly ten years old!"
A hint of anticipation appeared in Red Snow Celestial God's eyes. "Could it be that you have come to seek me for the sake of this Lei Zhan?"
"As expected of the Red Snow Celestial God, famous throughout the ancient world. You guessed the key point before I could even finish," the Yellow-Haired Great Bear praised. "Today, Lei Zhan went to the Star Hall again and has already comprehended two Domain Realms of the Dao. He has now passed the Divine Ability Hall and is currently receiving the divine ability inheritance left behind by the master."
"Lei Zhan passed the Divine Ability Hall!" Red Snow Celestial God was incredibly excited. "Endless years have passed, and the God King's divine abilities finally have a true successor!"
They, the Gods and Devils under the Star-Plucking Mansion, had waited for endless years. Could it be that the name of the Star-Plucking Mansion would reappear in the Three Realms, and it was highly likely to be through this Lei Zhan?
Thinking of this, Red Snow Celestial God asked, "You came to seek me—is the wager related to the Great Dao Lei Zhan entered? You didn't go to find Snow Scorpion, Dove Snake, or the others; could it be the Great Dao of the Spear? Or perhaps the Great Dao of Snow? The Great Dao of Time?"
Red Snow Celestial God was most proficient in these Great Daos; his guess was likely very close to the truth.
"The Great Dao Lei Zhan entered is indeed the Great Dao of the Spear!"
The Yellow-Haired Great Bear nodded. "Although Juhua can rival those Celestial Immortals, he walks the path of the Sword. I came to seek you today because I want you to pass on some spear techniques to Lei Zhan. After all, to be able to enter the threshold of the Great Dao of the Spear with only a very shallow spear technique shows his talent."
"As I thought."
Red Snow Celestial God pondered for a moment and said, "I will fulfill this wager for you. Consider it building a good karmic connection with this little fellow who has obtained the God King's inheritance."
"However, although my spear techniques originate from battle and slaughter, they have been refined significantly over these endless years. It will be somewhat difficult to pass them on to the little fellow in their entirety. Ordinary objects might not be able to fully contain them."
"Pass them on in their entirety to Lei Zhan?" The Yellow-Haired Great Bear was startled. He had originally thought that if Red Snow Celestial God were willing to pass on a few, it would be enough for Lei Zhan to benefit infinitely, even up to the Void Refinement level.
After all, even among Celestial Gods, one had to look at who the Celestial God was! Red Snow Celestial God was an existence who had comprehended several Great Daos; even among those Pure Yang True Immortals, few could compare to Red Snow Celestial God in terms of Dao comprehension.
"If I am to pass them on, I must pass on the most complete version," Red Snow Celestial God laughed. "Since this Lei Zhan has obtained the Star-Plucking Hand divine ability inheritance, he is already a named disciple of the God King. When he goes out to venture, he will represent the face of our Star-Plucking Mansion lineage in the future, so naturally, we cannot be careless."
The Yellow-Haired Great Bear nodded in agreement. "In that case... let it be so."
"Hmm." Red Snow Celestial God seemed to have thought of something. He looked at the Yellow-Haired Great Bear and smiled, "I still have a piece of hide preserved from ancient times, stripped from a White-Faced Flood Dragon I once slew. It should be enough to record my spear techniques."
"A White-Faced Flood Dragon? Is it the one that stirred up trouble in the Su River?" the Yellow-Haired Great Bear asked curiously.
"That is the very serpent," Red Snow Celestial God nodded. "The Su River was taken away by the God King, and since I was the one who slew this White-Faced Flood Dragon, it became my spoils of war."
"It really is that fierce beast. This little fellow Lei Zhan is getting a bargain," the Yellow-Haired Great Bear shook his head and laughed.
For a White-Faced Flood Dragon at the Celestial God level, besides the two pairs of sharp claws and the long tail that could be refined into powerful magic treasures, its hide and scales were also rare and precious items.
"It is only a small piece; it is not worth much," Red Snow Celestial God smiled gently, unconcerned, and immediately began to record the spear techniques he had spent his entire life creating.
Water Mansion, Main Hall.
"Senior Yellow-Haired Great Bear?" Lei Zhan looked at the seemingly dazed Yellow-Haired Great Bear and spoke softly.
"Hmm?" The Yellow-Haired Great Bear immediately looked over and smiled slightly. "Lei Zhan, come forward. I shall pass down this spear technique to you now."
"Yes." Joy appeared on Lei Zhan's face, and he immediately stepped before the Yellow-Haired Great Bear.
Whoosh!
The Yellow-Haired Great Bear beckoned, and a streak of light flew out from the depths of the great hall, appearing right in front of Lei Zhan.
"This is..." Lei Zhan was shocked. Hovering before him was a square foot of black animal hide covered in pitch-black scales, the casual state of which revealed how nonchalant the owner had been when processing it.
Even so, this piece of hide, barely larger than a palm, radiated an aura so terrifying that Lei Zhan found it impossible to ignore.
"Hmm? A piece of fur radiating the aura of a Celestial God or True Immortal?" Immortal Juhua stared at the scaled hide in the distance, his eyes filled with unconcealable shock.
Although he had never seen a Celestial God with his own eyes, he had once caught a glimpse of the Xia Emperor, the ruler of the Great Xia World, from afar. The aura radiated by the Xia Emperor was on the same level as the hide before him.
"This contains the complete record of that spear technique." The Yellow-Haired Great Bear watched Immortal Juhua's shocked expression, feeling a strange sense of satisfaction. "And this black hide is merely an insignificant trophy belonging to the master of that spear technique."
"A trophy? And an insignificant one at that?" Immortal Juhua felt even more alarmed. Over the past few million years, he had only been able to sense that there was a great secret within this cavern-dwelling.
Yet, after such a long time, Immortal Juhua had remained as if looking at flowers through a fog.
Now, thanks to his disciple, he was finally catching a glimpse of the tip of the iceberg regarding the secrets of this dwelling.
The Yellow-Haired Great Bear looked at the master and disciple before him and shook his head. "This Celestial God was an elite among Celestial Gods and True Immortals. His spear technique is incredibly profound; ordinary methods could hardly record it in its entirety."
"Left with no choice, he used the hide of a Celestial God-level ferocious beast to record the technique completely. This is a fine treasure; you little fellow are getting a bargain."
