Within the screen of light lay a world of eternal ice.
Enormous glaciers pierced the dim sky like swords. Bitter winds swept ice crystals through the air, howling like wailing ghosts.
Yet this land of extreme cold was no longer peaceful.
The once-crystalline ice plains were covered in filthy purple-black patches, traces left by the Devil Race's corrosive energy.
Countless low-level Shadow Demons skimmed swiftly across the ice like maggots clinging to bone. Their silhouettes twisted in the faint light reflected by the snow and ice, emitting maddening hisses.
More terrifying still, several enormous Devouring Demons clung to the glaciers, gnawing at the ten-thousand-year mystic ice like parasites. The acidic slime they secreted melted vast pits into the seemingly indestructible ice, throwing the cold energy throughout the realm into turmoil.
The defenders of the Mystic Ice Realm resisted from fortresses built of ice crystals and prearranged ice formations.
Cultivators with ice spiritual roots from the Tianlan Alliance formed the main force. Their ice cultivation arts thrived here like fish in water.
A Grand Elder in the Spirit Transformation Realm wielded an ice-jade ruyi, drawing upon the cold energy of heaven and earth to create countless storms of ice shards that froze and tore apart swathes of Shadow Demons.
Other cultivators controlled ice puppets and unleashed freezing talismans, battling Giant Strength Demons attempting to scale the ice walls and Winged Demons that occasionally swept overhead.
But the Devil Race seemed endless, and they appeared to be deliberately destroying the core glaciers that sustained the realm's stability.
Within the screen of light, a towering ice peak in the distance collapsed with a thunderous crash beneath the blows of several Magma Colossi. The resulting chain of avalanches nearly buried an outer defensive line.
