A young Hell Race team member swallowed and muttered, "We spent most of the day digging, and the holes we made aren't even as good as his toilet."
At those words, the men of the Star Guard Hall exploration team fell silent, while the women nearly wept.
A long while passed.
Only then did Piris finally draw a deep breath, approach Xu Feng, and cup his fists. "Xu, your earthworks really are impressive.
"I was too arrogant before. Would you give us some pointers? You don't strike me as someone who keeps his knowledge to himself."
Hearing that, Xu Feng finally burst out laughing. "Hahaha! Sure, sure, no problem. Come on, everyone, follow me inside."
With a laugh, Xu Feng led them into the cave.
From the interior layout to the ventilation design, to reinforcing and decorating the cave walls with simple wooden stakes and stone slabs-
He explained everything clearly, one detail at a time.
Piris and the others listened attentively.
Several other team members gathered in a circle to listen closely as well. No one interrupted.
Only Andy occasionally asked a question or two, focusing on the things she didn't understand.
Xu Feng answered each one, eventually even giving them hands-on guidance.
Three days later.
Everyone's quarters were finally completed, one after another.
The entrances were scattered at different heights across a hollow at the foot of the mountain, rough and plain.
Yet they were far better than the first batch of holes.
At least every cave had drainage and ventilation, and its entrance had some basic camouflage.
After moving in, several team members even became more talkative, and some of the numbness faded from their faces.
