The enchanted dagger in Su Li's hand froze in midair.
He looked at Saina's flushed face, then at the empty bamboo basket in her hands, and finally at Elena, who was covering her face in the courtyard.
He sheathed the knife at his waist.
"You ran yourself ragged for pork ribs?"
"What do you mean, just for pork ribs?!" Saina stamped her feet anxiously. "Two racks for one silver coin! Do you know how much they usually cost? One rack costs three silver coins! That's only thirty percent of the original price! If we get there late, they'll all be gone!"
Su Li opened his mouth, wanting to say something.
Elena peeked through her fingers with one eye, staring at Saina as though she were an idiot.
"Saina, you're a second-rank knight."
"So?"
"Your man made a hundred and fifty gold coins at the black market last night."
"So?"
"One hundred and fifty gold coins equals fifteen thousand silver coins."
"And?"
"So you don't need to run your legs off to save two silver coins!"
Saina smacked the bamboo basket, utterly righteous.
"Saving money and having money are two different things! Just because you have money means you can waste it? What do you, you spendthrift bitch, know about living a proper life?!"
The words "spendthrift bitch" made Elena tremble all over with rage. Just as she was about to lash out, Su Li had already turned and gone back inside.
He dragged an old burlap sack out from the corner of the woodshed, slung it over his shoulder, and headed out.
"Let's go."
"Huh? You're really going?" Elena looked utterly incredulous.
"If we don't buy pork ribs at thirty percent of the price, then we're the ones with holes in our heads." Su Li didn't look back.
