"It's—it's back!"
Fatty's face turned despairing.
A bright red dot shot straight toward the marker representing the building.
A moment later, the grating sound of some hard object scraping against the glass curtain wall came from outside the building. It rose from below, drawing closer with terrifying speed.
It hadn't taken the stairs!
It was climbing up from the outside!
"Get to the roof, quick! To the roof!" A-Jie screamed at the top of his lungs. Their chances were slim, but it was their only possible way out.
Despair flooded over everyone like ice water.
They could almost picture the massive, hideous shadow scrambling up the smooth glass curtain wall at a speed utterly at odds with its size.
Just as despair threatened to suffocate them,
"Beep, beep, beep!"
Another alert sounded from the miniature Source Energy Detector, its tone different from the first.
The sound was steady and clear, beating out a rhythm that gave them hope.
Fatty almost thought he was imagining it. He hurriedly looked down.
On the screen, not far from the bright crimson dot marking a mortal threat, several vivid green dots were moving just as fast as the Leader Rank Abyss Beast. They tore through the red background representing low-rank Abyss Beasts like green arrows loosed from bows, homing straight in on their position.
At the same time, a deep, powerful rumble drew closer. It cut through the noise of scraping glass and the roaring horde, reaching everyone's ears loud and clear.
It was the sound of helicopter rotors!
"Green dots! The green dots—rescue! Rescue is here!"
Fatty summoned every last bit of strength for a shout that nearly broke his voice. Tears and snot streamed down his face.
He didn't care in the least.
Outside the building, in the airspace beside it,
