Respected members of the council, department heads, and seniors, Greetings to you all!

I am Liu Yonglin from the 2021 Environmental Class 2, and I also serve as an officer for our club, the Xueheng Reading Center.

Time flies like a fleeting shadow. The four seasons have danced by, and winter has arrived. Nine-tenths of the year has already passed. Since enrolling on September 14, 2021, I have lived and studied at the Taolin Branch of Lanzhou Vocational Technical College for more than half a semester, and I have gained a great deal during this time.

After joining the Dream Source Literature Society, I have grown steadily from knowing nothing at the very beginning.

Throughout this semester, this platform has given me the opportunity to use my abilities to roam the halls of literature, enjoying the boundless joy and confidence that literature brings me. Looking back on the bits and pieces of my time in the club this semester, I have participated in the following activities under the guidance of my seniors:

I. Meetings

(1) Attended the first general meeting of the Dream Source Literature Society at the Lan Vocational College Taolin Campus.

Because of my passion, I had planned to join the Dream Source Literature Society even before school started. I believe that literature is a pure and clean form of artistic expression, which is why I have loved it since I was inspired by my Chinese teacher in middle school. After school began, I finally fulfilled my wish and joined the Dream Source Literature Society, attending its first general meeting at the Lan Vocational College Taolin Campus on October 14, 2021. I have always believed that the Dream Source Literature Society is a collective that possesses both rigor and joy; for literature itself, one should be rigorous, but the form in which literature is expressed should be joyful. After listening to the introductions from the president and the department heads, I became even more convinced of this. As the only country in the world whose cultural heritage has never been interrupted, China's culture is deep, long-standing, and influential.

(2) Attended the first general meeting of the Xueheng Reading Center of the Dream Source Literature Society.

This was the first departmental meeting I attended since joining our club. It was also the first time I met the seniors and other members of my department. At this meeting, I gained a clearer understanding of my tasks and responsibilities as an officer of the Xueheng Reading Center. Although our work consists only of writing beautiful essays, drafting news releases, and helping other students borrow books, I still believe that through my own efforts, I am spreading our Chinese culture and, through our collective hard work, cultivating our Chinese culture deeply.

II. Activities

(1) Attended the first general meeting (social gathering) of the Dream Source Literature Society at the Yan'erwan Campus.

This was the first activity I participated in after joining the Dream Source Literature Society. I understood clearly that we were invited by the person in charge of the Dream Source Literature Society at the Yan'erwan Campus, and I also understood that when away from home, one should be on their best behavior. After all, my image represented our entire Dream Source Literature Society at the Taolin Campus. This opportunity allowed me to meet more friends with similar aspirations and to better understand our club from a different perspective. Through this activity, I was also able to learn from their experiences and share our own. This was a process of mutual achievement and mutual progress.

(2) Participated in the online essay contest themed "Remembering the Pain of the Pandemic, Praising the Footprints of Heroes."

Since 2020, the words "COVID-19 pandemic" have seemed bewitched, deeply branded into the hearts of every Chinese person. Starting in mid-October 2021, the pandemic suddenly raged in Lanzhou. It came so suddenly that everyone in the city was caught off guard. Yet, in such circumstances, Lanzhou's medical workers were willing to take the lead, supporting the first line of defense in Lanzhou with a fearless spirit, persisting and holding their ground on the front lines. Through our collective efforts, we finally overcame the pandemic in Lanzhou. Against this background and in this situation, this is an era where everyone is a hero, because it is the effort of every individual that allowed the Lanzhou pandemic to quickly fade away and enabled the entire Gansu province to quickly reach zero cases. Keep going, lovely people of Gansu!

(3) Participated in the "Three-Line Love Letter" online themed essay contest.

Love is something everyone needs. From the moment our hearts first stir, we all look forward to our own love. This activity provided an outlet for us to vent our emotions, giving us the opportunity to express our feelings and write a three-line love poem to that special someone in our hearts.

(4) Participated in the "2021 Rural Revitalization Agricultural Products Inspirational Writing Competition."

Rural revitalization has been a major government topic in recent years. Since the second generation of leadership, led by Deng Xiaoping, the goal of achieving the Four Modernizations was proposed, one of which was the modernization of agriculture. Today's rural revitalization strategy is merely an extension and expansion of agricultural modernization, allowing the dividends of the government to benefit all farmers! As students, having the opportunity to promote the rural revitalization strategy and local agriculture is our own contribution to rural revitalization.

(5) Participated in the "Trust in the Party, A Strong Nation with Me" themed essay contest.

Currently, as the Third Plenary Session of the 16th Central Committee concludes, a red wave of studying the spirit of the session has swept across society. As a student and a Youth League Member, taking on the responsibilities of the era is an unshirkable duty. I am willing to start with myself, use practical actions to be a good successor of the red spirit, be a good Youth League Member, and prepare for joining the Party!

(6) Participated in a social gathering with the Taolin Clear Sound Radio Station.

As a fellow literature-related club, we have many connections with the Clear Sound Radio Station. For us, every activity we participate in increases our experience and knowledge. From activity organization to planning and implementation, every step is a rare learning opportunity, and naturally, I have learned a lot from it.

III. Reading Club

Due to the impact of the Lanzhou pandemic, this reading club session was the first one I have attended since joining the club this semester. This session focused on I Belonged to No Man's Land, the story of the growth of a boy from Yunbian Town named Liu Shisan. This book is written for the mountains and seas in everyone's heart; on this side of the mountain is Liu Shisan's childhood, and on the other side is his grandmother's sea. This is a very moving novel. From the author's perspective, I believe he wants to tell us that everyone's life needs a ray of light. This light is the path that guides you forward, as well as the reason and principle you persist for. Compared to romance novels, the family affection described by this author is even harder to pull away from. That subtle description is what makes it even more heart-wrenching. Through this reading, we feel that what we should pick up more is family affection!

IV. Looking to the Future

Under the leadership of our seniors, the Dream Source Literature Society is striding forward, demonstrating its unique charm through this approach. Through the many activities of the Dream Source Literature Society, I have personally experienced its vitality and passion. I believe the Dream Source Literature Society should focus more on cultivating our overall literary skills, enabling everyone to have a good writing style, and using this unique Chinese character method to spread the culture that belongs to our Chinese land! At the same time, we should also strengthen the supervision of various departments, striving for perfection, so that our Dream Source Literature Society can reach a higher level! As a member of the Dream Source Literature Society, I have the responsibility and obligation to build our own club and our own world into something even better! I believe the future of Dream Source will be even more brilliant!
