Annual Report

Respected Leaders, Greetings!

Time flies like a fleeting arrow. The four seasons have danced by, and winter has arrived. Nine-tenths of the year has already passed. Since enrolling on September 14, 2021, I have lived and studied at the Lanzhou Vocational Technical College Taolin Branch for more than half a semester, and I have gained a great deal during this time.

After joining the Dream Source Literature Society, I have grown gradually from knowing nothing at all.

Throughout this semester, this platform has provided me with the opportunity to immerse myself in the halls of literature using my own abilities, enjoying the boundless joy and confidence that literature brings me. Looking back on the bits and pieces of my time in the society this semester, I participated in the following activities under the guidance of my seniors:

I. Activities

(I) Attended the first general meeting (social mixer) of the Dream Source Literature Society at the Yan'erwan Campus.

This was the first activity I participated in since joining the Dream Source Literature Society. I understood clearly that we were invited by the person in charge of the society at the Yan'erwan Campus, and I knew that when out in public, I should be on my best behavior. After all, my image represented the face of our own society, and indeed, the entire Taolin Campus. This opportunity allowed me to meet more friends with similar aspirations, to better understand our society from a different perspective, and to learn from their experiences while sharing our own. It was a process of mutual achievement and mutual progress.

(II) Participated in the "Remember the Pain of the Pandemic, Praise the Footsteps of Heroes" online essay contest.

Since 2020, the term "COVID-19" has seemed bewitched, deeply branded into the hearts of every person in China. In mid-October 2021, the pandemic suddenly raged in Lanzhou. It came so abruptly that everyone in the city was caught off guard. Yet, under such circumstances, the medical workers of Lanzhou were willing to be the first to step forward, supporting the first line of defense with an indomitable spirit. By persisting and standing firm on the front lines, and through our collective efforts, we finally overcame the outbreak in Lanzhou. Against this backdrop and in these times, it is an era where everyone is a hero; it was the effort of every individual that allowed the Lanzhou outbreak to be swiftly extinguished and enabled all of Gansu to reach zero cases quickly. Keep going, lovely people of Gansu!

(III) Participated in the "Three-Line Love Letter" online themed essay contest.

Love is something everyone needs. From the moment our hearts first stir, we all look forward to our own love. This activity served as an outlet for us to vent our emotions, giving us the chance to express our feelings and write a three-line love letter to that special someone in our hearts.

(IV) Participated in the "2021 Rural Revitalization Agricultural Products Inspirational Writing Competition."

Rural revitalization has been a major government topic in recent years. Since the time of Deng Xiaoping, the leader of the second generation of leadership, the goal of achieving the Four Modernizations—including the modernization of agriculture—has been proposed. Today's rural revitalization strategy is simply an extension and expansion of agricultural modernization, allowing all farmers to benefit from government dividends. As students, having the opportunity to promote the rural revitalization strategy and local agriculture is our way of contributing to this cause.

(V) Participated in the social mixer between the Dream Source Literature Society and Clear Sound Radio Station.

As fellow literary organizations, we have many connections with Clear Sound Radio Station. For us, every activity we participate in increases our experience and knowledge. From organization and planning to implementation, each event is a rare learning opportunity, and naturally, I have learned a great deal from them.

II. Book Club

Due to the impact of the Lanzhou pandemic, this was our first book club meeting since joining the society this semester. The focus was on I Belonged to No Man's Land, which tells the story of the growth of a boy named Liu Shisan from Yunbian Town. This book is written for the mountains and seas in everyone's heart; on this side of the mountain is Liu Shisan's childhood, and on the other side is his grandmother's sea. It is a very moving novel. From the author's perspective, I believe he is trying to tell us that everyone's life needs a ray of light. This light is the path that guides you forward, as well as the reason and principle for which you persist. Compared to romance novels, the author's depiction of family affection is even harder to pull away from. That subtle, understated writing is what makes it all the more heart-wrenching. Through this reading, we feel that what we should cherish more is family affection!

III. Personal Reflections

Since joining the society, I have thoroughly enjoyed being in the halls of literature. This is a place that belongs only to me, and it makes me feel comfortable and at ease. Since I chose to begin literary creation, I have been determined to walk this path to the end!

IV. Looking to the Future

Under the leadership of our seniors, the Dream Source Literature Society is striding forward, demonstrating its unique charm. Through the society's many activities, I have personally experienced its vitality and passion. I believe the Dream Source Literature Society should focus more on cultivating our overall literary skills, enabling everyone to develop a refined writing style, and using these unique Chinese characters to spread the culture of our great land! At the same time, we should strengthen the supervision of all departments, striving for perfection to take our society to the next level! As a member of the Dream Source Literature Society, I have the responsibility and obligation to build our society and our own world into a better place! I believe the future of Dream Source will be even more brilliant!
