Annual Report

Dear Leaders,

Hello!

Time flew by in the blink of an eye. The four seasons had turned, and winter had arrived. More than nine-tenths of the year had passed. Since enrolling on September 14, 2021, I had spent more than half a semester living and studying at Lanzhou Vocational Technical College Taolin Branch. Over that time, I had gained a great deal.

After joining the Dream Source Literature Society, I had gradually grown from someone who knew nothing at all.

This semester, thanks to this platform, I had the chance to explore the halls of literature using my own abilities and enjoy the boundless joy and confidence it brought me. Looking back on all the moments I had shared with the society this semester, I had taken part in the following activities under the guidance of my senior brothers and sisters.

I. Activities

(1) Attending the Dream Source Literature Society's First General Meeting at Yan'erwan Campus (Social Gathering)

This was the first activity I attended after joining the Dream Source Literature Society. I understood perfectly well that we had been invited by the society's head at Yan'erwan Campus, and I also knew that, when we were guests, we should be on our best behavior. After all, our image represented not only the Dream Source Literature Society at our campus, but also the entire Taolin Campus. This opportunity let me meet more friends who shared my aspirations and gave me a better understanding of our society from a different perspective. Through the event, I could also learn from their experience and share ours with them. It was a process in which we helped one another succeed and grow.

(2) Taking Part in the Online Essay Contest, "Remember the Pain of the Pandemic, Praise the Deeds of Our Heroes"

Since 2020, the words "COVID-19 pandemic" had seemed almost like a curse, branded deep in every Chinese person's heart. Then, in mid-October 2021, the pandemic suddenly swept through Lanzhou. It came so unexpectedly that everyone in the city was caught off guard. Yet in these circumstances, Lanzhou's medical workers had been willing to lead the way, supporting the city's first line of defense with fearless courage and holding their posts on the front lines. Through everyone's joint efforts, we had finally overcome the outbreak in Lanzhou. In times like these, it was an age in which every person was a hero. It was everyone's hard work that had helped the outbreak in Lanzhou quickly recede and allowed Gansu as a whole to swiftly reach zero cases. Keep it up, wonderful people of Gansu!

(3) Taking Part in the Online Themed Essay Contest, "Three-Line Love Letter"

Love was something everyone needed. From the moment our hearts first stirred, we had all looked forward to finding a love of our own. This event offered us a way to let our feelings pour out, giving us the chance to express what we felt and write a three-line poem to the person in our hearts.

(4) Taking Part in the "2021 Rural Revitalization Agricultural Products Inspirational Cup Writing Contest"

Rural revitalization had been one of the government's major initiatives in recent years. Deng Xiaoping, the principal leader of the second generation of the central leadership, had already proposed achieving the Four Modernizations, one of which was agricultural modernization. Today's rural revitalization strategy simply extended and expanded on that goal, so that all farmers could benefit from the government's support. As students, having the chance to promote the rural revitalization strategy and local agriculture was also a way for us to make our own contribution to rural revitalization.

(5) Taking Part in the Social Gathering Between the Dream Source Literature Society and Clear Sound Radio Station

As another organization devoted to literature, Clear Sound Radio Station had a lot of connections with us. For our part, every event we attended broadened our experience and helped us learn. From organizing an event to planning it and then carrying it out, each one was a rare learning opportunity. Naturally, I had learned a great deal along the way.

II. Book Club

Because of the pandemic in Lanzhou, this was the first book club meeting we had attended since joining the society this semester. Our main book was I Belonged to No Man's Land, the coming-of-age story of Liu Shisan, a boy from Yunbian Town. The book was written for the mountains and seas in everyone's heart: on this side of the mountain lay Liu Shisan's childhood; beyond it lay his grandmother's sea. It was a deeply moving novel. From the author's perspective, I felt the message was that every person needed a ray of light in life. That light showed you the way forward, and it was also the reason and principle for which you persevered. Compared with love stories, the family bonds this author depicted were even harder to leave behind. The understated way they were written was what made them so heart-wrenching. After reading this book, we felt that family bonds were what we needed to pick back up!

III. Personal Reflections

Since joining the society, I had loved being in the halls of literature. This was a place that belonged only to me, where I felt comfortable and at ease. From the moment I chose to begin writing, I had been determined to keep walking this path!

IV. Looking Ahead

Under the guidance of our senior brothers and sisters, the Dream Source Literature Society was striding forward, showcasing its unique charm in the process. Through the society's many activities, I had experienced its energy and passion firsthand. I felt that it should focus more on cultivating our literary abilities as a whole, so everyone could develop a fine literary style and use the unique art of Chinese characters to spread the culture of our Chinese homeland! At the same time, we should strengthen oversight of every department and strive for perfection, so that our Dream Source Literature Society could reach even greater heights! As a member of the society, I had both the responsibility and the duty to make our society, and the world of our own, even better! I believed that Dream Source would shine even brighter in the future!
