There was one place that absolutely needed monitoring, Mo Fei had specifically instructed Jarvis: airports.
New York had three airports, one of which was located within New Jersey. However, Mo Fei wanted Jarvis to focus on Kennedy International Airport, the busiest airport in the United States, with a massive international passenger flow being Mo Fei's primary concern.
Jarvis's method for finding agents within the airport was based on how they were portrayed in movies. However, most of the people Mo Fei had seen over the past couple of days were petty thieves. Agents in movies were always looking around suspiciously, distrustful of everything. Mo Fei wasn't sure what they were like in reality. S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Phil Coulson and Melinda May weren't good references; their current appearances were public actions, not those of covert operatives.
Now, Jarvis had found someone else. Mo Fei glanced at him as usual. He didn't actually know how to search for anyone, but this time was an exception. The person looked familiar, and the information from the database instantly entered the data processing center. It took Mo Fei less than a tenth of a second to find the target's 'identity.'
However, Mo Fei couldn't confirm this identity. After all, the person he found was a character from a movie: Jason Bourne! This was a very famous movie character, the protagonist of The Bourne Identity, whom many fans called the King of Agents.
Jason Bourne's real name was David Webb. He was a former U.S. Army soldier who later joined the special forces and was promoted to captain. He then joined the 'Treadstone Project' and was trained as an elite agent, possessing highly advanced skills and techniques.
But Mo Fei was hesitating now. This guy was clearly waiting for a flight out of the United States. He was in the international departure lounge, his eyes scanning his surroundings, habitually observing the people around him. This was why Jarvis had selected him.
Although he held a ticket in his hand, the airport surveillance couldn't see the flight number on it. Mo Fei didn't know where he was going.
"The timeline doesn't match. Could he have already become an agent?" The timeline didn't align with the movie, but that wasn't Mo Fei's main concern. What bothered him was whether future events would also be out of sync. It was only 1997, and many things couldn't be used as references, including the question of whether the Asian financial crisis would occur.
He had already set his sights on George Soros, but that guy hadn't made any moves yet, nor had he started recruiting funds. There were many issues. Hong Kong hadn't returned yet, which was indeed a fact. But if S.H.I.E.L.D. existed, then what about the World Security Council? With the World Security Council in place, would the Asian financial crisis still happen? Mo Fei had pondered these questions, but he couldn't reach any conclusions. He used to be just a nobody, and most of his knowledge about these matters came from the internet. He never knew the specific details of events, let alone in this universe.
Mo Fei had no choice but to keep an eye on Jason Bourne. He felt it was best to call him by that name and see where he was going and what he would do after arriving. He had finally found a target, so he would stick with it. If it really was Jason Bourne, then Mo Fei was determined to recruit him. It seemed promising now, as Jason Bourne's behavior no longer resembled that of a soldier.
"Jarvis, keep an eye on him!" Mo Fei instructed Jarvis again.
"Understood. But what if he leaves the United States?" Jarvis asked.
That was a problem. Should Mo Fei leave the United States? He couldn't do that for now. He had too many things to handle here, and it was impossible for him to leave. Jarvis wouldn't be useful if he went alone. Not only would Tony Stark become suspicious, but Jarvis himself couldn't operate discreetly abroad. Mo Fei could only say, "See where he goes!"
"Understood!"
At this moment, Mo Fei truly wished he had chosen Jason Bourne. He really wanted to see how the King of Agents would fare against Black Widow and Hawkeye. Who would come out on top between them? "Hmm, it's a bit like comparing apples and oranges!" Mo Fei thought.
But for now, these were just thoughts. There was still another issue waiting for Mo Fei to resolve: he needed to keep an eye on Jack and Roy. Roy's wife's surgery had been very successful. Mo Fei had encountered Stephen Strange at the hospital, but he didn't feel anything. Whether this man would become Doctor Strange in the future was still unknown, and before becoming Doctor Strange, he was of no use to Mo Fei.
Roy and Jack discussed it and decided to find a good lawyer and then go to NYPD headquarters to cooperate with the investigation. This was a necessary step; delaying it wouldn't be a good idea. Moreover, the two of them needed to prove one thing: that they wouldn't betray their companion or Mr. Ghost. Jack wanted to bring Ghost in to help run the company.
Their former factory was in an industry Jack understood best: manufacturing steel car wheels. This industry didn't require very high technology. However, with the advancement of technology, the old equipment had become outdated. The investors, for various reasons, were unwilling to invest more money in updating the equipment, mainly due to certain economic policies in the United States.
There were many complex issues involved that Jack didn't fully understand. However, the demand for steel wheels was significant. If they could update the equipment, utilize the existing skilled workers, lower production costs, and improve quality, their competitiveness would be quite strong. Jack was confident he could revitalize the factory. However, there were still many problems. Their funds weren't enough to buy the factory, nor were they sufficient to update the equipment. Over three million dollars was too little for this industry.
Meanwhile, Mo Fei was keeping an eye on both of them. The two had transferred fifty thousand dollars of the company's funds to the United States to resolve their debt issues and hire a lawyer, after which they headed to NYPD headquarters.
Jarvis informed Mo Fei that the person had gone to Paris, France. According to airport records, the name used was indeed Jason Bourne. Mo Fei nodded. Now some things were aligning. Jason Bourne was a stationed agent there, so had the 'Treadstone' project already begun? This was a series of projects, and 'Treadstone' was just the beginning, followed by genetic modification engineering.
If everything unfolded as it did in the movies, then this technology was also something Mo Fei needed. Modifying genes required a vector, and viruses were the most suitable vectors. However, once a virus entered the human body, its spread or mutation could be catastrophic. The follow-up plan for 'Treadstone' seemed to have succeeded in delivering targeted viruses to desired locations, enhancing physical fitness and intelligence.
"Very good, Jarvis. Continue searching for other targets. We'll keep an eye on this person for future observation."
