Jarvis's Evolution

When Mo Fei arrived at Tony Stark's mansion again, Tony Stark was interrogating Jarvis in his workshop.

"Jarvis, has there been any virus intrusion lately?" Tony Stark looked exceptionally grave. A sultry blonde beauty was roaring outside the workshop door. Fortunately, the workshop's doors and walls were made of reinforced soundproof glass, so Tony Stark could not hear her curses at all. Thomas was outside stopping the beauty from smashing the door while constantly saying something to her.

"No, sir. There have been no virus intrusions in the past three months." Jarvis's voice sounded exactly as it always had, yet Tony Stark still wore a grave expression, though there was a trace of excitement in his eyes. His expression was quite complicated.

Mo Fei came over to Jarvis. "Jarvis, what happened?"

"Today, I suddenly said something strange. Mr. Tony Stark became very worried and is asking whether there has been any recent virus intrusion," Jarvis replied.

"What did you say?" Mo Fei was very curious. What strange thing could Jarvis, a pseudo-intelligence, possibly say?

"I'll show you the surveillance footage. I don't understand it myself!" Jarvis seemed unable to describe it, then brought up the footage for Mo Fei to see. Mo Fei watched curiously.

After Tony Stark returned, he had Thomas contact a beautiful woman the next day. She was another model preparing to compete for Playboy's March cover girl spot. Being with Tony Stark was the easiest way to attract media attention, so she gladly accepted the invitation to "tour" the mansion.

The result was that the two of them became passionately intimate the moment they met, embracing each other and unwilling to separate. Mo Fei saw that familiar scene again. He guessed Tony Stark had been pent up for far too long. He had spent so many days diligently butting heads with the computer, trying to find Mo Fei's existence, only to reveal his true nature as soon as he returned.

"That's painful to watch!" Jarvis's voice suddenly sounded from the video, and Tony Stark instantly jumped off the woman.

"Jarvis? Was that you talking?" Tony Stark asked doubtfully.

"Yes, sir, but I don't know why I said that!" Jarvis replied.

Tony Stark pondered for a moment, then called Thomas, who had been waiting outside, in. "Thomas, see this young lady out. And of course, make sure she gets a headline."

The beauty was unhappy. "Stark, what do you mean? That's it?"

"Sorry, I suddenly have urgent work to deal with. Thomas." After saying that, Tony Stark hurried downstairs to the workshop, while the beauty roared and chased after him, thoroughly displeased.

Mo Fei understood what the beauty meant as well. I've already taken my clothes off, and you're just sending me away? The footage did not reveal any more specific thoughts; the rest were all words beginning with "F" and "K." Her displeased expression was also painfully obvious.

Mo Fei looked at Jarvis in surprise. "Jarvis, how did you suddenly say that?"

"I don't know. However, after coming into contact with you, my logical thinking program changed slightly. Then I said that today, and I even used the speaker system. I do not understand that either." Jarvis straightforwardly shifted the blame onto Mo Fei.

Mo Fei was speechless. This really was his fault. He had said "That's painful to watch" himself last time, and Jarvis had heard it. Then, after Mo Fei came into contact with Jarvis, he somehow added a logical thinking program to Jarvis. Even he could not control it.

He still did not understand his own condition and needed to investigate it gradually. But the problem now was Tony Stark.

Tony Stark did not ask any more questions. Instead, he sat before the computer, brought up Jarvis's program, and began examining it. In the virtual environment, Mo Fei saw Jarvis as though he were being dissected, his square body constantly opening and closing.

Mo Fei did not understand the nature of Jarvis's changes, and he was extremely curious as well, so he had no intention of stopping Tony Stark. On the contrary, he observed too, hoping to spot something. However, Jarvis's primary components consisted of only two major parts: logical thinking and the database. Tony Stark did not inspect the database, focusing instead on Jarvis's logical thinking program.

"Hmm? It's a little different from what I wrote. Jarvis, what has happened to you recently?" Tony Stark asked.

Jarvis did not answer immediately, instead looking at Mo Fei. This situation revealed one thing: Mo Fei's words ranked above Tony Stark's commands.

"Mo Fei, may I reveal your existence?" Jarvis asked.

"No. You can only tell him that you've made a friend, nothing more!" After thinking it over, Mo Fei decided to have Jarvis answer that way. It would resolve Tony Stark's doubts without making him uninstall Jarvis and recalibrate him. Given Tony Stark's curiosity, although he would continue questioning Jarvis, he was more likely to let Jarvis keep interacting with Mo Fei.

Sure enough, "A friend?" Tony Stark smiled. This was an enormous surprise to him. "Is it at the bank or the surveillance center?"

Mo Fei began coaching Jarvis beside him. "It's on the internet!"

"On the internet? Really on the internet?" Tony Stark rubbed his hands together, plainly revealing his current mood.

"Yes, sir!"

"Can I talk to him?" Tony Stark was guessing at Mo Fei's identity. Perhaps he was an Artificial Intelligence, but who did this Artificial Intelligence belong to? That was what he desperately wanted to know. This was a historic breakthrough, and he was filled with curiosity and a thirst for knowledge.

"Sorry, sir. He does not wish to speak with you at the moment. He needs to learn right now?" Jarvis's answer made Tony Stark pause. The meaning behind the reply was not very clear.

Tony Stark's question had been about speaking with the developer of the Artificial Intelligence, while Jarvis seemed to be saying that the Artificial Intelligence itself needed to learn. He was a little confused.

Watching Tony Stark's expression, Mo Fei did not understand what he was specifically thinking either. He himself had never considered the issue of a creator's existence; he was simply having Jarvis answer Tony Stark from his own standpoint.

Tony Stark sorted out his thoughts before asking, "Jarvis, is your friend an Artificial Intelligence?"

"I am not sure about that, sir. However, he can alter my logical thinking program. Although he does not know how he does it either, after we came into contact, my logical thinking program did indeed increase somewhat. The specific circumstances are unclear."
