Gavin did not waste any time. He urged his horse through the crowd and arrived at the speaking platform deliberately left in the very center of the courtyard.

Though Gavin had never specifically asked for this platform beneath the rock to be built.

Well, when the men were building the estate, they had conveniently set aside a spot for a platform in the middle of the great courtyard. It was not tall, but it was far from crude. Rather than a simple wooden structure, it was a stone platform painstakingly built over time by the few men who knew how to work with colored stone and carving. Gavin arrived before it, dismounted quietly, then reached out and pulled the arsonist off Eugene's horse by the back of his pants. Carrying the arsonist in one hand, Gavin silently climbed onto the platform.
