"Migratory movement."
Hearing Xiao Lin's words, Gavin let out a soft sigh, muttering as he shook his head.
Migratory movement was something Gavin and the others had worried about ever since the zombies first appeared.
During the summer, Gavin had worried that the scorching weather would leave the zombies dehydrated, prompting the fungi within them to force them to migrate.
But in reality, the zombies were not especially short on water during the summer. At least in regions like central America, there was no real possibility of water scarcity.
After parasitizing a zombie's body, whenever the zombie became dehydrated, it would choose a spot to temporarily lie dormant, allowing mycelium to grow from its body, connect to the ground, burrow beneath the surface, and join the underground mycelial network. Through that network, it could absorb the nutrients the zombie needed, especially water.
As a result, the zombie mass migration Gavin had feared during the dry season never happened.
But what about winter?
Zombies were not afraid of drought, but could they really be unafraid of bitter cold as well?
How could that be possible!
Gavin shook his head as he furrowed his brows.
While he was thinking, Xiao Lin slowly rose before him and continued respectfully.
"Your Majesty, our investigations established long ago that zombies are purely cold-blooded creatures. They do not generate body heat, and the fungi have no ability to heat their bodies either."
"That means a zombie's mobility depends entirely on the local temperature. When faced with the environment, a zombie's body temperature reacts just like a plant's. The environment has an enormous effect on them!"
"Once temperatures plummet, zombie bodies will gradually become stiff. In other words, according to my estimates, once winter arrives, their mobility should be far inferior to what it is in summer!"
