Background / History

While Sun Wukong trained on King Kai's planet, Supreme Kai helped determine that Vegeta and his companions would reach Earth in 158 days. He was initially skeptical of Wukong's claims and was stunned when Wukong demonstrated a tenfold Kaioken that Supreme Kai believed he had not been taught. 2

Supreme Kai and Kibito monitored Earth because of Majin Buu's seal. Concerned that moving the seal could awaken Buu prematurely, Supreme Kai chose to leave it in place and keep it under observation. He initially regarded Wukong as a powerful human but believed neither Wukong nor Vegeta could rival a true god. 16

Wukong's unannounced arrival in the Sacred World of the Kai bewildered Supreme Kai, who followed him to the Z Sword with Kibito. Supreme Kai expected Wukong to fail, then watched him use Super Saiyan 2 in an unsuccessful attempt to draw the blade. Wukong's Kamehameha instead destroyed the cliff and released the Old Supreme Kai, revealed as Supreme Kai's ancestor from fifteen generations earlier. 16 17

After Wukong began using the Sacred World of the Kai as a training base, Supreme Kai agreed that the gap between them was too large for a productive spar. He later allowed Wukong to pursue Frieza, considering it useful for someone else to handle a threat that the Kais had neglected while watching Majin Buu. 22 23

Supreme Kai repeatedly underestimated the scale of Wukong's growth during the battle with Frieza. After witnessing Super Saiyan 2, he acknowledged that Wukong's energy had surpassed his and might equal or exceed Majin Buu's; after Frieza's defeat, he concluded that Wukong could potentially finish Majin Buu for good. 41 46 48

Following the Namekians' evacuation, Supreme Kai inspected a planet resembling Namek, confirmed it was habitable, and transported the Grand Elder and the Namekians there by Instant Transmission. He was subsequently ordered by the Old Supreme Kai to search for the Ginyu Force. 50

Personality

Supreme Kai is initially self-assured in his status and strength, openly believing that Wukong is far beneath him and accepting Kibito's claim that a single glare could send Wukong flying. 16 23

He is deeply concerned with preventing Majin Buu's release, but his narrow focus on Buu leaves him uninformed about Beerus and Frieza's role as Beerus's proxy. The Old Supreme Kai repeatedly scolds him for this ignorance and for failing to notice Frieza's increased strength. 23 41 48

Despite his pride, Supreme Kai can reassess his views when faced with clear evidence. Wukong's Super Saiyan transformations and victory over Golden Frieza leave him awed and optimistic about the universe's future. 46 48

Supreme Kai can use Instant Transmission to travel to locations he can see.
