"Heh, you're actually begging for mercy now?"
Lynn stared expressionlessly at Brando, whom he had pinned beneath his foot.
Brando's earlier taunts were still fresh in his mind.
Paired with his current pleas for mercy, they seemed utterly ridiculous.
"Don't kill—" Brando gritted his teeth and begged.
But before he could finish, Lynn smashed him into a bloody pulp.
That was the end of everyone in the laboratory. Lynn had killed them all.
Lynn looked around the blood-soaked laboratory.
Blood covered the white walls, and the air reeked of it. The place was practically a living hell.
Countless mutants had been killed by these people, or had died indirectly at their hands.
And this was only one experimental facility.
The most despicable of all was that damned America.
Why were mutants discriminated against, even treated worse than Black people?
In the Marvel Universe, all humans had the X-Gene. Some people simply awakened it, while others didn't.
So why were mutants who had awakened the X-Gene slaughtered by people who hadn't?
Lynn couldn't understand it.
What kind of fucked-up logic was that?
But he knew that simply escaping this place wouldn't be enough.
Not nearly enough!
Beep! Beep! Beep!!!
The shrill sound of alarm sirens rang out from every corner of the facility.
Countless fully armed guards rushed toward the laboratory where the incident had occurred.
They all wore bulletproof vests and carried assault rifles, grenades, and other explosives.
"Quick! Move! That damned mutant's headed for the prison!" the squad leader shouted.
Inside the prison,
The moment the mutants saw Lynn escape into the prison, their expressions changed.
"He actually made it out? Hurry and run, Lynn!"
"Heh... So what if he escaped? The guards will be here any minute, and the base has a heavily armed force."
"Yeah. Even if we get out, they'll hunt us down relentlessly."
"..."
The mutants reacted in different ways when they saw Lynn escape.
Some urged him to run, while others thought he'd soon be captured and killed.
But Lynn paid no attention to what they said.
He simply smashed the doors of one cell after another into scrap metal with his fists.
Then he opened every cell.
The mutants stared at the sight in shock.
"A... a Level Three mutant? When did he become a Level Three mutant?"
"He really is a Level Three mutant? Can we actually survive?"
"No, I can't escape. They'll kill me if I get out. At least I can stay alive a little longer here!"
"..."
In the darkness, Lynn looked up at all the imprisoned mutants.
His face was shrouded in shadow, leaving only the deep contours of his features visible.
"I've opened your cell doors. If you still have the courage to live, or the will to stand up, then follow me and help me destroy this damned base!"
"..."
The prison fell silent.
But a moment later, countless furious roars erupted.
"Fine! We'll follow you and escape together!"
"Fuck this! Scraping by in here makes us no better than the pigs and dogs those guards call us! We're getting out!"
"Exactly! There's hope only if we escape!"
Countless mutants rushed out of their cells and gathered before Lynn.
They were all skin and bones, their bodies marked with scars left by the experiments.
Yet every one of them had the same yearning to live shining in their eyes.
They might have been a child, a husband, or just an ordinary person before.
They'd been brought here simply because they'd awakened the X-Gene.
Lynn looked over the cells and saw that quite a few people were still huddled inside, watching them with amused expressions.
They apparently didn't believe they could escape this place.
"Good. Then let's destroy this damned base!"
As soon as he spoke, countless fully armed guards charged down the corridor outside the cells.
When they spotted Subject 52 among the escapees, they all raised their rifles.
Black, icy muzzles aimed at Lynn and the mutants behind him.
The mutants who'd caused the chaos were clearly a major threat and had to be killed immediately.
"Open fire!" the lead guard bellowed.
But before they could pull their triggers, a kaleidoscopic pattern appeared in the darkness ahead.
The guards' eyes grew unfocused, as if Lynn's illusion had taken hold of them.
But a moment later, the wristbands on their right arms sent out a powerful electric shock, jolting them free of Lynn's illusion.
Lynn raised an eyebrow at the sight.
He wasn't surprised that the base had a countermeasure like this.
Once the illusion was dispelled, the guards began pulling their triggers.
Muzzle flashes burst again and again, and a torrent of steel tore through the air, hurtling toward the mutants.
The mutants behind Lynn froze when they saw the guards open fire.
Terror spread across their faces, filling their hearts.
After all, they were only Level One and Level Two mutants. They had no way to stop the bullets.
They hadn't even removed the Mutant Controllers around their necks.
A Mutant Controller was a metal collar worn around a mutant's neck.
Whenever a mutant used their abilities, the collar released an electric current and attacked them.
The instant the guards fired, Lynn narrowed his eyes.
His hands formed Hand Seals at lightning speed, and both Mangekyō Sharingan opened wide.
Terrifying Amaterasu flames suddenly erupted among the guards.
"Lightning Style: Electric Current Drive: Thunder Blast!!"
As Lightning Release Chakra and the electric current generated by Electric Current Drive gathered in his throat,
Lynn opened his mouth wide and spat out a massive golden spear of lightning.
The terrifying lightning spear swallowed the bullets flying through the air as soon as it appeared.
Then, with blinding speed, it tore forward.
Splurt! Splurt!
The roaring lightning spear tore through the guards engulfed in Amaterasu flames.
Moments later, every guard had become a charred, unrecognizable heap on the ground.
Just as they had treated the mutants.
The mutants who had been panicking moments earlier froze in shock.
Even the mutants who'd stayed inside their cells, too afraid to come out, stared wide-eyed at the charred bodies, unable to believe what they were seeing.
This... this kind of power... Could he really be a Level Three mutant?!
"Move!"
Without hesitation, Lynn strode forward.
The mutants behind him exchanged glances, still shaken by the hail of bullets.
But as they remembered the overwhelming force with which Lynn had just crushed the guards, someone among them shouted:
"We'll follow the mutant leader to the death!"
And then—
Countless others joined in, shouting as they poured out of the prison to follow Lynn.
"We'll follow the mutant leader to the death!!"
