Nara held a knight's sword, watching the corpse before her warily.
Then the living corpse swayed as it charged at her. Her knight's sword thrust out and pierced its heart, yet even with its heart punctured, the corpse continued to move, flailing its hands at Nara as though it wanted to crazily tear into her smooth skin. Nara frowned and swung her sword again, severing the monster's head.
Only by cutting off their heads could they be granted rest? With that thought, Nara hurried over to the person lying on the ground.
This person's neck had been bitten open, blood streaming endlessly from the wound. He clearly could not survive. His eyes stared up at the night sky, as if accusing something.
Nara set down her knight's sword, took the man's hand, and heard his confession, wishing that he might ascend to God's heaven and attain eternal peace.
The soldiers behind her arrived on horseback, carrying torches.
"Princess, what are your orders?" The soldiers dismounted and drew their weapons. Seeing the rotting corpse, they asked in confusion.
"It seems that corpses have risen again." Nara stood up and looked at the corpse at her feet, devoid of any trace of life yet climbing back to its feet once more. She picked up her knight's sword again.
"Lord, what is that thing?" The soldiers behind her fearfully pointed their knight's swords at the corpse that had risen. They had never seen anyone whose neck had rotted away so badly still able to live. Combined with Nara's words, they felt nothing but fear.
"Stay calm!" Nara swung her sword and severed the newly risen corpse's head. Turning to the soldiers, she said, "Something evil and ominous has brought the corpses back to life. Those bitten to death will likewise become monsters."
