Even Grelrigs was startled for an instant. He had thought he still held power in reserve and intended to use the Eternal Light to catch Negary off guard in the Life World.
He had already tried to overestimate Negary as much as possible, yet now he discovered that he had still underestimated him.
He had never imagined that, within a multiverse entirely under his control, so many people would be willing to become Negary.
The more striving was suppressed, the more fiercely it surged.
Within the Starry Sky Multiverse, in order to prevent Negary's infiltration and hasten the completion of the Starry Sky Altar, Grelrigs had kept an exceptionally tight grip on the worlds under his command.
He was the will of heaven in those worlds. The will of heaven could not be defied. In every world, every ruler of every dynasty was, in the truest sense, a Son of Heaven. Advancement was permitted, but every channel of advancement was firmly held in Grelrigs's grasp.
Perhaps that was precisely why so many people were unwilling to remain at the bottom of the valley, able only to look up at the stars.
