Certainly kept creating more hatred.
Mutual understanding.
Could indeed bring true peace.
But what was the prerequisite?
Everyone had to possess absolute selflessness—or, in other words, be willing to set aside their own desires for the greater good. Yet that was clearly impossible. There was no shortage of selfless people in any world. There were always some who would give everything they had for their country or for the world. In any era, in any world, such people were hailed as "great men" or "saints." Naruto didn't deny that people like that existed. There were even more than one or two. But one had to remember that the vast majority of people were ordinary, and over ninety-nine percent of humanity put their own desires first.
Where did disputes come from?
What gave rise to war?
The answer was simple.
It was the existence of selfish desires.
They weren't some "dirty" thing that needed to be concealed. Rather, they were an instinctive response shared by all living creatures. Humans were no different.
From this, one conclusion could be drawn.
