Sosuke’s group freed Shukaku from Sunagakure’s altar, drawing the Sand village into the war, while Tokino gained the Mangekyō Sharingan and Kinnara joined Sosuke. The fighting spread through the Land of Rain, where Minato rescued Konan and Sosuke returned to Konoha with plans still unfolding.

• Inuzuka O and Aburame Zhiren found murdered bodies near the border, and Mitarashi Juma identified the recovered equipment as Root’s and warned them not to investigate.
• Sosuke, Minato, and Tokino rescued Konan from a ruined Rain village, and Minato arranged for an elderly couple to take her in.
• Sosuke used the Hogyoku to awaken Tokino’s Mangekyō Sharingan, then led him and Minato to Sunagakure’s Altar of Wind.
• Sosuke freed Shukaku and escaped with Tokino and Minato as the beast rampaged, after which Sunagakure sealed Shukaku and joined the war against Konoha.

As the war widened, Sosuke gathered allies and pursued Hanzo, while Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan crossed paths with Konoha’s Sannin. Sosuke survived a near-fatal battle with Hanzo and began taking control of Amegakure, while Jiraiya agreed to train the children.

• Minato rescued Konan and Yahiko after their home was destroyed, while Tokino slaughtered a squad of Rain Ninja with his three-bladed Sharingan and lightning.
• Ōnoki brought the Land of Earth into the war, Mito told Kushina she would bear the Nine-Tails, and Sosuke left Konoha after confirming the beast’s location.
• Sosuke summoned Minato, Tokino, and Kinnara to begin an operation, then investigated a White Zetsu clone and learned that it could report information to its creator.
• Nagato awakened the Rinnegan after Konoha Ninja killed his parents, and Yahiko and Konan later found him and brought him to Minato and Sosuke.
• Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru fought Hanzo, who defeated them but named them Konoha’s Sannin, while Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan asked Jiraiya to train them.

Sosuke helped Kinnara take control of Amegakure and recruited Yahiko, Konan, and Nagato into his plan for a new world. As the war continued, Nawaki was presumed dead, and Sosuke tested Tokino’s power before confronting Dan.

• Sosuke warned Kinnara that the Land of Rain needed a leader, and Kinnara agreed to govern it while Sosuke and Minato went to meet the children.
• Sosuke reunited with Konan, revealed Nagato’s Rinnegan, and asked Nagato, Konan, and Yahiko to help create a new world, which they agreed to do.

Sosuke secured peace with Amegakure, then led Konoha’s campaign against Sunagakure while secretly recruiting Chidong to his plan. The arc left Sakumo missing in enemy territory and Sosuke preparing another dangerous mission to investigate him and disrupt the Sand Ninja.

• Tokino killed Dan under Sosuke’s command, then vowed to avenge him by killing Sosuke and Aizen.
