"Dilos, are you really planning to go home now?" Chloe asked with concern. "You should stay in the hospital for a while longer."
Lex and Gabe, who were standing beside her, also tried to persuade Dilos to stay in the hospital a little longer.
But Dilos remained firm. At the hospital, he couldn't use the "Tiger-Leopard Thunder Sound" technique in public to speed up the healing of his bones. Besides, if he stayed too long, what if he missed his "best window for treatment"?
Chloe and the others had no choice. After Dilos insisted again and again, they prepared the necessary paperwork and took him home.
When they got home, Dilos looked at the familiar furnishings and breathed in the familiar smell. Even with Lex now among those around him, he still felt a warm sense of closeness and belonging. He knew this was what home felt like.
Dilos didn't know how other people saw it, but to him, home was a beautiful word. It meant not only a house where people could live and rest, but also a place where family gathered, supported one another, and lived happily together.
For a moment, Dilos wanted nothing more than to keep lazing around and sleeping in this warm, comfortable environment, living a carefree life. But he knew the direction this world was headed, and without strength, that was nothing but a pipe dream.
Lex had work to take care of at his company, so he had already left. After Chloe and Gabe helped Dilos into his room, they left too.
Once he was alone, Dilos wasted no time. He lay on the bed and began using "Tiger-Leopard Thunder Sound."
This time, though, Dilos didn't use "Tiger-Leopard Thunder Sound" at full strength. His foot bones had been set, but they hadn't healed yet. Using the technique at full power would only worsen the injuries to his feet, which would be counterproductive.
Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz...
Using the bones and muscles in his chest and arms, Dilos kept "Tiger-Leopard Thunder Sound" at its lowest intensity. He drew vitality from the qi and blood within him, then circulated it through his body in conjunction with the technique.
An hour later, Dilos's face had taken on a ruddy glow, as though he'd just had a drink. He had reached his limit with "Tiger-Leopard Thunder Sound," but the results were excellent.
During that hour of "Tiger-Leopard Thunder Sound," the injured parts of his body had rapidly absorbed the medicine applied to them, and they had absorbed it completely. The medicine was specifically meant to help with sprains and fractures. No matter how easily it was absorbed, it shouldn't have worked this quickly.
And yet it had. What was more, his two legs and one arm, which had been set in casts, should have needed at least four weeks for the broken bones to knit together. After being tempered by "Tiger-Leopard Thunder Sound" and his vitality, they had already completed that process—and had healed even better than normal. Even the tendons in his hands and feet, which the doctor had judged would never move as well as a healthy person's again, had recovered considerably.
As for his other arm, the swelling and bruises had returned to normal, leaving only a few marks behind. It still stung a little when he moved it, but it was far better than before.
His mental state was excellent, too. Other than feeling a little tired, he felt great! The next day, he could increase the intensity of "Tiger-Leopard Thunder Sound," which would not only help him heal but also let him exercise his body a little.
Dilos's improved condition hadn't been noticed by Chloe and Gabe. After all, his injuries had been hidden beneath casts and bandages. They didn't realize he was doing so much better until the next day, when Lex's doctor came by.
Dilos hadn't expected them to find out so soon that he was already starting to recover. But who would have guessed the doctor would arrive in a motorhome? Along with daily necessities, it carried a whole collection of highly precise portable medical instruments, including a portable X-ray machine.
After removing Dilos's bandages and casts, the doctor saw that his symptoms were much milder than Lex had described and instinctively decided to examine his bones. The examination showed that his fractures weren't nearly as severe as Lex had said. He just needed to rest for a while to recover.
"I think you've all been worrying too much. His injuries aren't that serious at all." The doctor sounded a little helpless. He thought his employer, Lex Luthor, had made a fuss over nothing. Even a regular hospital could get Dilos back to full health with injuries like these, though it might take a little longer. But Lex was his employer, so he couldn't say much. Still, at his employer's request, he used the best medicine he had on Dilos. After putting on some fresh bandages, he said he would come back for a follow-up in a month.
After the doctor left, Chloe and Gabe stared at Dilos's almost completely healed right arm, still stunned.
They remembered how Dilos's bones had looked when they'd taken X-rays at the hospital. They definitely hadn't looked this good. Chloe, meanwhile, recalled what Dilos had told her.
After a long pause, Chloe asked Dilos, her voice stiff with excitement, "Was everything you told me true?"
Dilos smiled. Gabe, standing nearby, couldn't make sense of the two of them speaking in riddles. So Chloe and Dilos explained the wonders of Guoshu to him.
But explaining it wasn't enough to make either of them believe it completely. Even Chloe, who was the most open-minded, couldn't fully accept it. Dilos had no choice but to show them what "Tiger-Leopard Thunder Sound" was.
Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz...
That strange sound rang out from Dilos's body again. It was like the purring of a cat, or a miniature rumble of thunder. An hour later, Dilos had absorbed every bit of the good medicine the doctor had applied. The clearest change was in his sprained arm: only a faint white mark remained where the injuries had been. His broken arm and both legs could move to a limited extent as well.
When Dilos's body began making that strange sound, Chloe and Gabe believed him about halfway. But when he removed the bandages from his arms, they were completely convinced.
The arm that had been sprained and covered in scratches was almost entirely free of marks. His broken arm looked nearly as good as the sprained one...
The facts were right in front of them; they had no choice but to believe. Dilos's rapid recovery was also thanks to the medicine. Relying on "Tiger-Leopard Thunder Sound" and vitality alone, it would have taken more than a week to achieve this degree of healing.
Now, he figured that if he used "Tiger-Leopard Thunder Sound" to temper his body every day, he would be able to move normally after a week and do strenuous exercise after about two.
A long time had passed, but Chloe and Gabe still looked dazed. They now understood why Dilos had insisted on going home to recover. This rate of recovery was practically miraculous for an ordinary person. If the wrong people found out, who knew what bad ideas they might get?
"But was it really a remarkable old man from China who taught you Guoshu?" Chloe asked, eyeing Dilos suspiciously. Gabe gave him the same look.
According to Dilos, he had learned Guoshu from a remarkable old man from China when he was young. He'd practiced for years before it had begun to work like this.
The story was simply too unbelievable, like something out of a novel. The two of them hadn't thought much of it before; to them, Guoshu was just a special kind of exercise. But after seeing the miracle Dilos had performed, they began to have doubts. Could he really have acquired such a remarkable ability that easily? He must have been incredibly lucky.
Dilos knew what they were thinking, but he couldn't exactly tell them he'd started learning it in his previous life. So, in the end, the matter was left unresolved.
