Lucian, the legendary Werewolf King, was very different from the others. Unlike his ancestors, Lucian was a werewolf who had undergone a second mutation. Those he turned into werewolves wouldn't be controlled by the violent, bloodthirsty urge to kill that had driven his predecessors. They could control their emotions and freely shift between ordinary human form and a half-human, half-wolf form.
Even so, the bloodthirsty and savage nature inherited from William Corvinus, the progenitor of the werewolves, hadn't vanished. It had merely been weakened and hidden away. It only resurfaced when the werewolves were enraged by something else or fought against vampires.
But when all was said and done, the werewolves Lucian had turned were much like humans in many ways. When humans got bored, they felt restless and went looking for something to do. Werewolves were no different, though their antics tended to be rougher and bloodier.
Having spent so long underground with little to do, Lucian's werewolves often sought out amusement and a way to blow off steam. At their gathering place, they would transform into their half-human, half-wolf forms and fight one another one-on-one, using claws and teeth in bloody, brutal brawls.
Given their incredible regenerative abilities, these werewolves fought like maniacs. Claws tore into flesh; punches shattered bones. As long as they took care not to damage each other's vital organs, it didn't matter if both fighters ended up covered in blood or even crippled by their injuries. Within minutes—or at most, a dozen or so—their powerful regenerative abilities would restore their bodies completely.
This deranged form of entertainment had been going on underground for years. Lucian, the Werewolf King, didn't like the bloody games, which reminded him of rabid dogs, but he let the werewolves use them to relieve stress. There was, of course, one
