After half a day, Dilos finally made his way from the United States to Alkali Lake in Canada.
Because of its location, even though the weather had already begun shifting from winter to summer, the woods around Alkali Lake were still buried under thick snow.
Wearing his superalloy armor, Dilos trudged through the snow toward the area beneath Alkali Lake. According to his memories from his previous life, William Stryker's base was built underneath the lake, and its main entrance lay in the flood channel below the dam.
In some respects, the base had been designed perfectly, from its location to its other features.
Built underground beneath Alkali Lake, it was reinforced with nuclear-blast-resistant concrete and magnetic shielding. This not only kept it hidden from advanced psychic metahumans like Professor X, but also gave it excellent physical defenses. If a particularly powerful enemy showed up, they could open the dam's flood channel and use the terrifying force of the floodwaters to smash the intruder to pieces.
In truth, the defenses of this underground base were only middle-of-the-road by Earth's standards. With all the various kinds of advanced technology and metahumans with wildly different abilities, breaching a base like this wasn't especially difficult. At the very least, an metahuman like Professor X might be kept in the dark for a while, but given enough time, Professor X would notice something was wrong.
Of course, there was a way to prevent the base from being attacked: keep the information as secret as possible and erase every trace connected to it. That way, it wouldn't be exposed because of some unpredictable factor.
This approach was undeniably effective. Aside from William Stryker, plenty of people liked using the same trick. The clearest example was Dilos himself. He was so good at keeping a low
