But what Dilos hadn't expected was that Robert suddenly falling ill was only the beginning. Over the next half hour, everyone who had been bitten by the Compsognathus began dropping one after another, all showing the same symptoms as Robert. Dilos had no choice but to dilute a vial of the slightly more concentrated serum he carried with the basic equipment in the medical kit, then inject it into them one by one.
Dilos couldn't immediately figure out why something that looked like mass poisoning had happened. To be safe, though, he injected himself with a vial of serum, too. The syringe he used was a little different from an ordinary one, mainly in its needle. Since even ordinary knives couldn't leave so much as a mark on his skin, he'd had the syringe specially made from an alloy, so it could pierce his skin and avoid the awkward situation of the needle failing to get in if some unexpected mishap ever occurred.
Once he'd dealt with all that, Dilos finally calmed down and analyzed the events, piecing together what had happened. He found that everyone who'd fallen ill had been bitten by a Compsognathus, which meant the Compsognathus were carrying some kind of virus.
Dilos didn't know what the virus was, but he was sure it had caused the strange symptoms in the Compsognathus and the Stegosaurus. The virus was also contagious. So far, he could tell it spread through bodily fluids, including blood. In other words, someone could be infected by a bite from a carrier—or even by biting one.
"I just don't know if it can spread through the air, too."
At the thought, Dilos couldn't help remembering all the dinosaur blood that had evaporated into the air earlier.
"No. Waiting for those idiots to solve this
