Trouble Arrives (Second Update)

In the end, Dilos decided to return the car to its owner in person. However...

Staring at the Luthor Mansion before him—a retro, castle-style structure with a massive garden courtyard, a garage, and a super-alloy gate at the entrance—Dilos couldn't help but sigh at how good it was to be rich.

"But why has nobody answered the door after I've been ringing the bell for half an hour?" Dilos felt a bit sullen. What was this? Was no one home, or was this some rich person's joke?

After waiting a while longer, Dilos had no choice but to give up. He drove the incredibly flashy gold Lamborghini home, planning to return the car whenever he got another chance.

After returning home, Dilos, who had just intended to head to town to buy some groceries, saw a crowd gathered around an ambulance. A man in a coma was being wheeled onto the vehicle by paramedics before it sped away.

Everyone has curiosity, and Dilos was no exception. He happened to spot his cousin Chloe and her friend Pete Ross among the onlookers, discussing something, so he walked over and asked, "Chloe, what happened here?"

"Not sure, only that the guy was electrocuted into a coma." Chloe answered while holding up a camera to take photos. Pete Ross, standing beside her, quickly added, "For three days in a row, three different people have been electrocuted. And all three of them were American football players back when they attended Smallville High. There has to be a connection."

Hearing this, Dilos felt that something was wrong. He knew how chaotic this world was, especially with superheroes like Superman; usually, if strange things were happening near their home turf, it meant someone with superpowers was committing crimes.

"Do you have any leads?" Dilos asked subconsciously. When encountering such people, it was best to just let Clark, the Superman, handle it; anyone else who got involved was just asking for trouble. It was better to get some clues about the perpetrator and then stay as far away as possible.

"Wait here, let's go back to the Torch Studio at school." Chloe and Pete exchanged a glance, then dragged Dilos back to school, and then...

"Chloe, this is a sickness, you need help." Dilos's mouth twitched as he looked at the piles of data Chloe had arranged in a small room at the studio. Among them, the foam wall was pinned with clippings of every strange event in Smallville over the past twelve years. The meteor incidents were the most numerous—the sheer volume was simply absurd.

"I call it the Wall of Weird~" Chloe introduced it to Dilos with a proud expression while searching for information online. "Ever since the meteors descended on this town, everything changed, and so many bizarre events have followed. Everything started here; it's just that those investigators can't find anything."

Hearing this, Dilos subconsciously frowned. He felt skeptical about the idea that those investigators couldn't find anything.

If he wasn't mistaken, in this world where both DC and Marvel superheroes existed, organizations like S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra should exist.

After all, Captain America already existed, so there was no reason for S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra not to appear. Furthermore, as far as he knew, ever since mutants appeared, a national organization like S.H.I.E.L.D. should be frantically searching in the shadows for those with superpowers, whether to recruit them or use them as experimental subjects...

"Chloe, Dilos, I found the guy's information!" Pete, who was flipping through paper records nearby, shouted excitedly. Looking at the man in the photo and the pictures Chloe had taken while watching the scene, Dilos raised the question on his mind: "Could it be a twin or a direct relative?"

Hearing this, Pete shrugged. He pointed to Chloe, who was typing rapidly on the computer nearby, and said, "That's my thought too, but that's up to Chloe to verify."

Two hours later, Chloe handed them two sheets of paper printed from the printer, containing Jeremy's information.

"A friend of mine at the hospital helped me get this. That person is indeed Jeremy Creek, and he's an only child." Chloe said, full of excitement. "During the meteor shower twelve years ago, he was found unconscious and naked 20 yards outside the meteor impact zone. Because of an electrolyte imbalance in his body, he had been in a coma at the hospital for these past twelve years."

"How did he end up there? And without any clothes on?" Dilos couldn't help but wonder if this Jeremy had some unusual fetish.

Pete added from the side, "Because he was tied up there as a scarecrow. It's a tradition at Smallville High. The Smallville team players would pick a freshman who had just entered high school to play a prank on, stripping them of their clothes, tying them up in the cornfield as a scarecrow, and even spray-painting an 'S' on their chest."

"Only teachers and members of the Smallville team are exempt from the prank, even if they're just reserve players; they don't do it to their own. I only became a reserve player on the team because I was worried about being pranked like that."

"What a poor kid." Dilos curled his lip. He had already sorted out the cause and effect. "Spending twelve years in a hospital bed and not going crazy enough to kill everyone in sight—this kid really has a good temper."

"I think it's terrifying." Hearing Dilos's words, Pete looked at the photo of Jeremy with some fear. "He hasn't aged in twelve years, and he electrocuted three people without leaving a single trace at the scene. He's very likely a mutant with the ability to use electricity."

The Brotherhood of Mutants, led by Magneto, had committed too many crimes in the United States, and coupled with the intentional propaganda in the national media, most people had a strong sense of fear toward mutants.

"Or perhaps it's an ability caused by meteor radiation." Chloe didn't feel much about that; she cared more about the fact that the meteor disaster might have granted people superpowers.

"Does the Smallville team still have this tradition?" Dilos suddenly asked Pete.

Pete nodded. "Yes."

Dilos continued, "Then do you know who the team plans to prank this time?"

"Not sure." Pete shook his head. "But I know they plan to find a new 'scarecrow' today."

"You two should stop investigating this." Dilos put down the documents and looked at them with a serious expression. "Go to the police right now. You don't need to mention Jeremy attacking people, but you must tell the police everything about Jeremy's disappearance and his reappearance, and notify Jeremy's parents while you're at it."

"Finally..." Dilos looked at the two of them. "Don't attend the homecoming dance tonight; just stay home. If this is true, then this poor guy who was bullied during his student days must be full of rage waiting to be released. And these idiots who are still continuing the 'scarecrow' tradition will be treated as punching bags by this human electric generator!"

Looking at the two stunned people, Dilos couldn't help but sneer:
