Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well

After hearing Chen Qi out, Qian Renxue thought he made a good point. Pufferfish Douluo was a Titled Douluo and a master of poison, after all. With him leading the way, there was no chance anything would go wrong.

They quickly reached an agreement: this time, they'd defy all the rules. If they weren't allowed to go, then they'd go anyway. They wanted to see what sort of treasure was hidden there.

So they wandered around Sunset Forest, and in just half a day, they'd covered the entire outer perimeter.

They didn't find so much as a wisp of poisonous fog, and there were pitifully few Soul Beasts, either. Of course, if you counted Tang San's in-laws, then the place was teeming with them.

"Chen Qi, I'm starting to seriously suspect that the guy outside who got cuckolded was lying to us."

Qian Renxue was so tired that her legs trembled as she walked. For the first time in her life, she felt like taking a stroll was a life-threatening workout.

Chen Qi was even worse. He was already half out of his mind. Qian Renxue had slapped him awake, but half a day later, his shut-in habits were kicking in again.

Pufferfish Douluo looked at one of them, exhausted to the point of stupidity, and the other, on the verge of going mad. He shook his head helplessly.

"Miss, hang in there a little longer. It's hard to say what might happen if we stop to rest out here in the wilderness."

Qian Renxue looked like she was about to drop dead. They'd spent the entire half-day walking and doing nothing else. When had she ever endured this sort of torture, from childhood to now?

"Uncle Pufferfish, I really can't go on. My legs feel as heavy as if they were filled with lead."

"Pufferfish Douluo, why don't you be my mom? Let me into Mom's embrace!"

Hearing them, Pufferfish Douluo felt utterly helpless. Chen Qi especially had started calling anyone he saw his mom.

Chen Qi thought he'd found his mom, but the very next second, Mom hit him.

Pufferfish Douluo slapped Chen Qi unconscious, and he hit the ground.

Then, he casually slung Chen Qi over his right arm like a bundle of laundry.

With all their troubles taken care of, he could finally focus entirely on searching for the poisonous fog.

Without two deadweights slowing him down, Pufferfish Douluo explored quickly. He also had the advantage of having visited Sunset Forest before and knowing his way around.

By dusk, he had searched nearly every part of Sunset Forest. Only the little mountain in front of them remained unexplored.

A thick blanket of mist shrouded the mountaintop. Pufferfish Douluo was certain the poisonous fog lay within it.

"Miss, wake up. I think we've found the place."

Pufferfish Douluo gently shook Qian Renxue, who had fallen asleep on his back.

She opened her eyes, looking dazed and unsure of what was going on.

"Uncle Pufferfish, what is it?"

"Miss, look at the peak of that mountain. It's covered in mist. I suspect the poisonous fog they mentioned is inside."

Qian Renxue rubbed her eyes, slid down from Pufferfish Douluo's back, and looked up at the mountain peak.

"Uncle Pufferfish, you're amazing! I fell asleep, and you found it already. I wonder what kind of treasure is inside. Maybe there's a magic mirror or a glass slipper."

Hearing her, Pufferfish Douluo scratched his head. What were a magic mirror and a glass slipper? Were those things from Douluo Continent?

What was she even talking about?

"Uncle Pufferfish, let's hurry up and go. If it gets dark, the monsters will respawn."

Pufferfish Douluo nodded and followed Qian Renxue as she slowly made her way toward the mountaintop.

As for the modern expressions Qian Renxue used, Chen Qi had taught them to her.

Qian Renxue had been bored before, so she'd chatted with Chen Qi. As they talked, she picked up some of the internet slang he used, along with a few things from the modern world.

She'd heard of magic mirrors and glass slippers in the fairy tales Chen Qi had told her when she couldn't sleep.

The mountain path wasn't difficult to walk. Though there were signs that someone had tried to block the way, they reached the edge of the mist before long.

Seeing the cloudlike white mist before her, Qian Renxue curiously reached out to touch it, but Pufferfish Douluo stopped her.

"Don't. This mist has lingered here for a long time. That's strange. I'll investigate first."

Qian Renxue nodded and quickly pulled her hand back. She'd almost touched the fog.

Pufferfish Douluo first set Chen Qi down, then cautiously reached out to touch the mist.

The moment he made contact, he sensed something was wrong.

There were traces of poison in the mist. It wasn't deadly, but getting exposed to it would still be unpleasant.

"Miss, there's poison in the mist. I'll form a protective barrier with my Soul Power before we go in."

Qian Renxue nodded. Soon, a barrier appeared around the two of them, shielding them both.

Pufferfish Douluo picked up Chen Qi, who was barely alive, and went deeper into the mist with Qian Renxue.

At first, the mist was white. The farther in they went, the darker it grew, until the entire expanse turned ink-green.

Just looking at it, they could feel how powerful the poison inside was.

"Uncle Pufferfish, the poisonous fog is so thick."

"Miss, this poison is potent enough to kill an ordinary Soul Saint. Judging by the way it was done, I think I can guess who set it up."

As soon as he finished speaking, the two of them burst out of the poisonous fog. The scene before them could only be described as a paradise.

All kinds of unknown plants, each rich in Soul Power, grew packed together like swarms of ants.

Strange, towering trees surrounded them, blocking out the sky. Wisps of celestial energy rose from the soil.

At the very center of the plants was a lake, unlike the clear lakes they'd seen outside.

Half of its water was blue and the other half red. It looked utterly bizarre.

The closer they got to the lake, the denser the spiritual energy became. The strange lake was the culprit behind the plants' immense size and rich spiritual energy.

Chen Qi's eyelids twitched where he hung from Pufferfish Douluo's arm. He rolled over, fell to the ground, and landed face-first in the dirt.

"Ow! Am I in heaven? God, let me be reborn as the male lead in a romance anime next life."

God didn't appear as he'd hoped. Instead, Qian Renxue's head popped into view.

"Chen Qi, there you go talking nonsense again. What's this about God and romance anime? I'll have you know we're in the poisonous fog right now."

At the sight of Qian Renxue, Chen Qi's disappointment was plain to see. He'd thought he could finally escape this place and live out his own life as a male lead.

He looked around and nodded, confirming that this was the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.

Chen Qi wasn't particularly surprised. He'd seen the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well countless times in Douluo Continent.
