Bibi Dong's eyes flashed with annoyance at these words.
Afraid to use torture?
The spirit masters in her Spirit Hall responsible for meting out punishment were actually acting timid and afraid to touch a prisoner simply because of his special status?
Could it be that because Qian Daoliu had lost his battle against Tang Chen, even the people within Spirit Hall had begun to fear that so-called "Number One Sect in the World"?
A frigid aura spread silently from her body, adding a bone-chilling cold to the already gloomy dungeon.
Zhao Linchuan stood by her side, observing it all.
He said nothing more, merely turning his gaze toward the trembling guard and speaking in a flat tone:
"Go fetch a water vat filled to the brim, and bring over a spirit master with a lightning attribute. I have great use for them."
"Yes, yes, yes!"
The guard, as if granted a reprieve, nodded frantically and practically ran away.
The dungeon fell silent, leaving only the faint crackle of torches and the steady breathing of the man inside the cage.
Bibi Dong looked at Yu Xiaogang, who was still fast asleep, and after a moment of silence, she spoke softly, sighing:
"That defeat of the Great Elder has weakened the prestige of my Spirit Hall by at least half."
She tilted her head slightly, her gaze landing on Zhao Linchuan's face. "Nowadays, even these public officials of my Spirit Hall have become somewhat timid."
"That is only natural," Zhao Linchuan replied. "Before this, the Great Elder was always a near-divine existence in the minds of the continent's many spirit masters."
"Yet, Tang Chen, a spirit master from an unconventional background, suddenly defeated this god."
His tone was inscrutable, his eyes deep.
"If no one has ever reached the summit of a mountain, it remains an insurmountable natural barrier."
"But once someone reaches the top, even if it was just by luck, the mountain is no longer a myth in the eyes of the world."
Bibi Dong nodded thoughtfully, lowering her eyes in contemplation for a moment.
Suddenly, she looked up, a flicker of curiosity in her eyes as she asked, "Linchuan, how exactly did this Tang Chen cultivate?"
"It's as if he just appeared out of thin air."
She counted on her fingers, "The origins of the spirits, the lineages, and the cultivation trajectories of all the powerhouses in the continent's history who reached the Title Douluo rank are almost all recorded within my Spirit Hall."
"Yet, I have never heard of any Clear Sky Hammer, nor have I ever heard of any Clear Sky Sect."
She wrinkled her nose. "It's as if they just popped into existence."
"Logically, the life of a Limit Douluo must be filled with legend; it is impossible for him to be a nobody."
"Who knows?" Zhao Linchuan shrugged. "Perhaps he just popped out of a crack in a rock?"
Bibi Dong couldn't help but curl her lips at his words, and just as she was about to say something else, a rustling sound came from the cage.
Yu Xiaogang woke up. He sat up, rubbed his sleepy eyes, and focused his gaze on the two figures outside the cage.
When he saw who they were, he instinctively felt that something was wrong.
Yesterday, relying on his silver tongue and explaining the stakes, he had finally avoided physical suffering.
Although those guards had locked him up, they hadn't dared to touch him at all.
He had even secretly rejoiced, thinking that as soon as his father received the news, everything would be resolved.
But now, looking at the two people outside the cage, especially Zhao Linchuan, he subconsciously felt a tightness in his chest, as if something terrible was about to happen.
And as it turned out, his intuition was not wrong.
Rapid footsteps approached from a distance. The guard returned, followed by a spirit master dressed in red robes.
The two worked together to carry a massive water vat, nearly half a zhang high, filled with clear water that sloshed slightly with their movements.
Zhao Linchuan glanced at the vat, then at Yu Xiaogang, whose face had already turned pale inside the cage, and spoke in an unhurried voice:
"Open the cage and throw him in."
The guard responded immediately, fished out the key to unlock the door, and strode into the cage.
Seeing this, Yu Xiaogang's expression changed drastically. He subconsciously shrank back, his spine hitting the cold wall.
"What are you doing? You...!"
He couldn't finish his sentence. The guard's strength was far beyond that of a mere Grandmaster; his hands were like iron pincers as he hauled him up from the ground.
"Let me go! You cannot...!"
"Splash!" Water sprayed everywhere.
Yu Xiaogang was tossed into the vat. The cold water submerged his chest. He clawed at the rim of the vat, shocked and furious, his voice cracking.
"What are you doing?! Do you know who I am?!"
Zhao Linchuan ignored him. He turned his head to look at the red-robed lightning-attribute spirit master and said indifferently, "Put some electricity into the water."
"Yes!"
The red-robed spirit master stepped forward immediately, a fine spark of lightning igniting at his right fingertip.
Zzzzt—!
As fingertips dipped into the water, fine arcs of electricity instantly spread along the current, causing the entire vat to glow with a faint, blue-white shimmer.
"Ah—!!!"
Yu Xiaogang's scream erupted instantly. His entire body convulsed violently within the vat, his hands clawing desperately at the rim, his hair standing on end, and the muscles in his face twisted into a grotesque mask.
"Ah—! F*ck! F*ck! Stop! Stop it! Ah—!"
He tried to scramble out, but the red-robed Spirit Master pressed a hand onto his head, forcing him back down.
"How dare you treat me like this—!" Yu Xiaogang's voice was shrill and hoarse. "Are you not afraid of sparking a war between Spirit Hall and the sects?!"
Zhao Linchuan glanced at him, his tone indifferent. "Increase the intensity."
"Understood."
The red-robed Spirit Master complied, and the arcs of electricity at his fingertips suddenly thickened. The blue-white light exploded within the vat, casting flickering shadows across the entire dungeon.
"Ah—!! F*ck!! You can't do this!! My father won't let you off—!"
Yu Xiaogang's screams echoed through the dungeon, growing louder and more desperate until they finally turned raspy.
Time slipped away slowly amidst the shrieks.
A quarter of an hour—a full quarter of an hour.
Under Yu Xiaogang's frantic struggling, the vat finally shattered with a crash, sending clear water and porcelain shards spilling across the floor.
Yu Xiaogang collapsed onto the wet ground, soaked to the bone, his hair disheveled, gasping for air in ragged, heavy breaths.
Zhao Linchuan raised a hand, and the red-robed Spirit Master understood, withdrawing the electricity from his fingertips.
"Huh." Bibi Dong looked at the wretched figure on the ground, a flicker of curiosity crossing her eyes. "He's actually unharmed?"
The guard also stepped forward to take a look, a confused expression appearing on his face.
Yu Xiaogang had been electrocuted for a full quarter of an hour, yet there wasn't a single mark on his body. His skin even looked ruddier than before; anyone unaware of the situation might have thought he had just received a relaxing massage to improve his circulation.
Zhao Linchuan let out a soft chuckle. The sound was faint, yet it made the Yu Xiaogang on the ground shiver uncontrollably.
