Aizen survived Aizen Sousuke’s assassination attempt and returned to find him turning Spirit City into Hueco Mundo. After the Central Spirit Arts Academy escaped and regrouped, Aizen organized missions against Aizen Sousuke and set out to investigate Hueco Mundo with Qian Renxue and Gu Yue.

• Black Armor Titled Douluo and Blue Armor Titled Douluo ambushed Aizen with Tosen Kaname’s help, but Aizen survived and awoke at the Lake of Life with Gu Yue.
• Aizen Sousuke’s Spirit Hall Academy defeated Shrek Academy, then battled Central Spirit Arts Academy as Aizen Sousuke fought Yamamoto Shigekuni.
• Aizen Sousuke used the dead souls and Spirit City to create Hueco Mundo, destroyed half the city, and declared that he would become a god.
• Yamamoto Shigekuni and Central Spirit Arts Academy escaped to a remote town, where Aizen reunited with them and began organizing the Gotei 13.
• Aizen rejected Xue Ye’s offer of imperial troops and planned an expedition to eliminate Aizen Sousuke’s followers and gather rare Martial Soul Crystals.
• Aizen assigned missions across Spirit City and Sea God Island, then invited Qian Renxue to investigate Hueco Mundo with him.
• Aizen, Qian Renxue, and Gu Yue departed by carriage as the two women exchanged hostile looks.

The King's Seal revealed its control over Aizen and set him on a path to surpass Aizen Sousuke, while Aizen and his allies clashed with powerful foes on the way to Sea God Island. Aizen reached the island to pursue his own trial, turning against its guardians as Bo Saixi and Sea Dragon Douluo confronted him.

• The King's Seal explained that it had brought Aizen to this world, manipulated his growth, and would keep sending him to new worlds until he surpassed it and made Aizen Sousuke and Yhwach submit willingly.
• Yoruichi and Soi Fon killed Soul Masters connected to Aizen Sousuke, while Ichimaru Gin investigated Aizen Sousuke's laboratory and fought a Hollow Beast created from the souls of over a thousand Soul Masters.
• Aizen arrived in Spirit City, killed the Soul Masters who worshipped Aizen Sousuke, and challenged the city's gathered fighters before Ulquiorra and Grimmjow set off for Sea God Island.
• Aizen entered Hueco Mundo through a passage inside a gigantic creature, killed the Death Beast guarding the way, then killed the three Titled Douluo and reached Level Ninety-Nine before accepting the King's Seal's godhood mission.
• Ulquiorra and Grimmjow reached Sea God Island, killed Seahorse Douluo and Seaspear Douluo, and fought Tang San until Ulquiorra withdrew them at the approach of Bo Saixi and the other guardians.
• Aizen traveled to Sea God Island, killed Seastar Douluo after declaring his trial was to destroy the island and become a Soul Reaper, then advanced toward the remaining Sacred Pillars.
• Aizen cut through Sea God Island's Soul Masters and confronted Sea Dragon Douluo, who wounded Aizen's shoulder before attacking from behind and piercing both of his shoulders with his dragon claws.

Aizen returned to Sea God Island, stripped Bo Saixi of the Sea God’s power, and began his own path to godhood. After inheriting the Soul King’s power and receiving a King Sword, he returned to Purple Pearl Island five years later.

• Aizen escaped Sea God Island after fighting Bo Saixi and her defenders, while Kenpachi Zaraki and Retsu Unohana attacked the Clear Sky Sect and killed several elders.
• Aizen took control of the Purple Pearl Pirate Group and sailed back to Sea God Island, where he defeated the Demon Soul Great White Sharks and confronted Bo Saixi.
• Aizen sealed Bo Saixi away from Seagod Power, defeated her, and extracted the Sea God’s Source, causing Sea God Island to sink beneath the ocean.
• Aizen brought the Sea God’s Source to a cave, where the King’s Seal summoned Ichibei Hyosube, Shutara Senjumaru, Ōetsu Nimaiya, and Kirio Hikifune to aid his ascension.
• Ōetsu Nimaiya forged Aizen a King Sword, and Ichibei Hyosube declared him the Soul King after Aizen’s body became a spirit body.
• Aizen inherited the Soul King’s power, learned how the Template System, Hogyoku, King Sword, and Ulquiorra had aided his ascent, and strengthened himself with Hikifune Kirio’s feast.
• Aizen returned from the Spirit King Palace after five years had passed and found Purple Pearl tending to Bo Saixi on Purple Pearl Island.

Aizen returned as the Soul King, gathered allies, and set plans in motion against Aizen Sousuke and Yhwach. A counterfeit Hogyoku and King's Seal drew both armies into the Star Dou Great Forest, where Gu Yue refused to help Tang San and his companions.

• Purple Pearl held out for Aizen's return, then welcomed him back after learning that the Sea God had abandoned Bo Saixi, who agreed to become a Soul Reaper and seek revenge.
• Aizen returned to the continent with Zero Squad and found Aizen Sousuke's Soul Masters competing and absorbing one another, while Yamamoto Shigekuni fought the Espada and burned Heaven Dou City to forge the King's Key.
• Aizen revealed that he had become the Soul King, recruited Halibel, defeated Qian Daoliu through Yamamoto, and began planning to pit Aizen Sousuke and Yhwach against each other.
• Ichimaru Gin used a counterfeit Hogyoku to transform Chen Luo after Quincies killed his brother, but Reinis Venice defeated Chen Luo and took the Hogyoku before Gin escaped.
• Aizen sent Shihouin Yoruichi to plant an imitation King's Seal in a Human-Faced Demon Spider, which Tang San killed and absorbed as a red Soul Ring.
• Yhwach entered the Star Dou Great Forest with the Stern Ritter as Aizen Sousuke gathered Espada and squads, while Yhwach took the Hogyoku from the dying Reinis and learned that Tang San had been transported elsewhere.
• Urahara Kisuke warned Aizen that Yhwach planned to move the Wandenreich into the forest and use Auswählen, while Barragan led Hueco Mundo's forces toward the Lake of Life to ambush him.
• At the Lake of Life, Gu Yue accused Tang San and his companions of shifting their danger onto the forest and refused to help them because they were human.
